Rep Power: 90 | | someone lied to me...
I tried to be a mentor, tried to teach the ways of good herb growing to a very close friend... someone I thought could wrap his head around growing. Lets face it people... they practically grow themselves with a little attention. This guy comes to me the other day with some "good stuff" from his first harvest. I was so disappointed I almost cried. I told him how to tell male from female, told him how to hang lights, water and apply nutrients, told him how to dry and cure... all of this explained in detail. Hell, I even let him barrow the marijuana horticulture bible, and he hands me some pure garbage... I looked at it and it was bad, tric's weren't mature, hairs were all white still, and there were seeds...so many seeds... It was so wet still I'm sure he had just cut it off the plant. He told me it was ready to go, but the bag he had them in for the trip to my house was sweating already when he got here. I don't know what else to do with this guy, all I know is he ruined some good seeds I gave him, can't even clone anything cause he's got a bunch of herms and totally fertilized females. He's going to have to start over and i'm not sure I want to help anymore. I tried to help, the poor guys dad has HIV and is in some pain, but I don't know what to do anymore. Should I keep trying???

Ask him if he is really trying when he says yes say bullsheesh whats up with all the seeds you gave me? then after you get it in his head that its easy but there are a few things you really need to keep an eye on, be patient and you have to want to grow it. Its not a job, its not worth all that time for almost worthless premature buds. make sure he knows its medicine that is important to his dad because he needs it.. all that time and money could have been spent at a dispensary.. I would say F it if it wasn't for his dad.
I didn't proof read, I'm high. Sorry
Good Luck,

Hey, it was the guys first grow - right? Relax, smoke one, and give him a break - it's a learning process.

If there is one thing I can share with you my friend: "Say what you mean, Mean what you say, But don't say it mean...... " After all, it could turn out to be a good learning experience (For both, perhaps?) Love and tolerance go a long way. Good Luck!

Send your buddy here and we will give him a hand as well. Maybe all of us working with him, together, can help him understand. It is a learning curve.
And Welcome to GreenPassion! Great to meet you.

Hey man,
Have a sit down with him and get serious. Explain to him that if you're going to help him he has to take it seriously. If he seems like he's blowing you off then tell him he's on his own. There's nothing worse then taking someone under your wing and getting slighted or not taken seriously. Be patient and try to figure out if it's a genuine misunderstanding or the guy is blowing you off. If he's just not getting it then redouble your efforts. If you can shape him up you'll be improving the quality of another person's life, possible adding years to their life.

If possible, you should spend time with him in his grow area. Or, him with you in yours. Seldom advisable, but, sometimes necessary. Some of us need close personal attention while learning new things.
Playing guitar is easy for some, but, learning without watching someone closely, is quite difficult.
Patience is a virtue.

a friend has not reaches to cuttings (clones) ... I have explained more than 1 year! No valid result! Big disappointment ...
Now, I make cuttings for him.
If I prepare my cuttings for 6 = 12 in the final;))
I make cuttings for him too!
Knowing that half is for him!
And I give him the rooted cuttings in small pots, lol ! ! ! like a king...
I work a little more and I lose a little space: instead it is sad to lose the cuttings ...
;)

A MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE,
and A WASTED MIND ISN'T THAT TERRIBLE...
By teaching others you are re-enforcing your knowledge.
By the way how'd you do the first time???
Was he enthused about his harvest???
You can't learn to Cook in just a few months, but you can survive.
Just remember in the future start them on some bag seed for the first grow.
Keep your faith.
Peace

Damn Daz,
You held his hand for a whole year? Either this dude just doesn't have the mind for growing or he's seriously irresponsible. And now you're giving him some sweet clones to murder!!! Man I wish you were my buddy!
I hope he does a 180 degree turn and realizes how valuable you time and your efforts are. I'd be very, very grateful if an experienced grower took me under their wing. I hope it works out better this time around.
Good luck,

You know what? Some people just have brown thumbs. It is an understanding of plants that helps us grow and being intune with your plants. But for some people, I don't know, no matter how they try, they just can't grow anything other than dirt.
Peace

I was going to say, if he didn't take what you taught him seriously, especially for his dad then let him go his own way if you feel the need too,,, But when jonnyappleweed said, How was your first grow??? Well then I take back what I was thinking,, my first grow was horrible, I was young and overly anxious to harvest.. Give it one more try, if only for his dad anyways... Good Luck

I hope I don't turn out to be one of those people! I think I'll do fine. It seems like this guy doesn't fit that description Jangel. It seems like he's just to lackadaisical about the whole thing and isn't taking it very seriously. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong and you're right? You'd think he'd be very dedicated and would want to learn all he can considering his situation (A relative with HIV who needs meds).

If not, then he just wants free weed..
decide whether you're going to give it to him or not.
How good a friend? tough question.. that personality could leade to encounters of the LEO kind.
