Whats a cheap soil that a beginning indoor grower can buy that's relatively cheap.. Also is the Moisture controlled Miracle grow potting mix any good aswell?

i would strongly suggest against using miracle grow soil. it has alot of nutrients in it that arent exactly the right amount for growing marijuana. i would suggest going out and getting some regular potting mix without any nutrients in it, then add your own perlite, dolomite lime, worm castings, and other organic nutrients. (or you could not use organics and buy your own nutrients like foxfarm nutrients). you can also buy soil mixes online or at a local hydro store. FoxFarm's Ocean Forest is a popular one among growers here. type in "soil mix" to our search box, or take a look through our FAQs (on the homepage, left hand side) to see more soil mixes. there are many recipes and it depends on how you want to grow. a little research and you will find the best one for you. good luck!

I'm not a big fan of MG products when it comes to growing my crop, as DieAbetic told you, it is full with long time fertilizer and all kind of things they don't list up. The effect of all that is that young plants are usually killed of by the too high EC of the MG soil - that started the myth that MG prod would hold a MJ-killer, but it just the amound of fertilizer that does all the killing.
Do a little research here in the board on mixing soil, there are quite a few recipes around that work wonders

Most hydro stores that carry the full bales of ProMix or the like will also
carry repacked smaller 20l bags of the same.

Rather than hydro stores, Nurseries and Garden Centers may also be a source for Sunshine/Pro-Mix...or bales of peat and bags of perlite (mix yer own SS#4) as well as "branded" soils, potting mixes and organic ferts.
Especially this time of year.
As time goes on, if they have stock leftover they may also discount it rather than try to Winter it over. I had SS#4 for years after stumbling upon a nursery in a smaller town that had 5 bales left in october. $10 a bale!

most walmarts have cheap bags of potting soil (without nutrients....usually called 'EarthGro'), and perlite. a small bag of worm castings is also cheap that can hold you over for vegging (since it has a good amount of nitrogen), and then you can buy bloom nutrients online or try to find one that will work from a local nursery or Home Depot/Lowes
