My current grow has been going for 5 days and i know its still early but i was wondering how long until i will see the first green shoot poke above the soil. if i gently move the dirt i can see that it has already started to root.

depends on how deep it is and how hard it is to get through your soil/medium. ive had seeds come up in one day, others in one week. after about a week and a half id call it a dud.

its a quarter inch deep and i think its cuz i left the top wet to long so it wasnt reaching for water and i had a shirt over the top blocking the light so i uncovered it and made the light indirectly hit the top and watered it from the bottom so hopfully it helps.

aaarrrrrrggghhhh!!!!! i just made the number one first grow mistake!!!! i got impatient!!!!!
I took a look at the root and saw that it hasnt grown down at all so decided to repostion it so that it was down. everything was fine untilli was putting it back in the soil and i accidentally snapped off the root right were it comes out of the seed. then i examined the seed a little closer and noticed a little green shoot face the direction that was origionally up!!!!! i know i cant save it but i thought id try anyway. I put the snapped off root in the soil for compost and put the seed back in the soil with the shoot facing up and buried it 1/8 inch. at the same time i have started a new plant about 5 minutes ago because i know the first one wont pull through.

should ahve left it.. i have a plant thats growing that i snaped the root off the seedling. i might still have grown. check the compost heap. heheh

well its normal to get a little impatient, but there is nothing a person can do at that stage. just wait. mother nature does everything for you. including turning the seeds the right way up in the soil. next time you'll know better, hehehehe
