Rep Power: 42 | | best for germination
SO I want everybody's opinion.
what is the best way you think is for germination? putting the seed straight into the soil watering it covering it with plastic wrap and keeping it warm or putting it in a wet paper towel and keeping it warm?

My first grow hassn't started yet however I can tell you that out of the massive amounts of research I have done 95% of people use the paper towel method. good luck and we'll see what the experienced folks say.

personally i do not use the paper towel method. I have in the past, but i think i've gotten lazy since i have pretty good germination rates anyways. i put my seeds in distilled water for 24 hours. most will pop by then. i then put them in the soil (or rapid rooters, rockwool, or jiffy pellets), which is pHed and has a drop of superthrive per gallon and some MaxiCrop liquid seaweed (both help rooting....i have rooting powder too but i use that to dip clones). i cover them with another cup or plastic for humidity. sprouts usually come up in 1-3 days. if im using jiffy pellets or rapid rooters or rockwool, i also put them in a little germination container with a lid, and sit that on top of my ballast to get some extra heat for the little ones. hope this helps :-)

20 seeds using paper towel method - my first ever germination. Inside of a humidity dome and under 60W incandescent bulb. All 20 seeds germinated. I will continue to use this method.

Hey there KO,
Grab a ziplock bag, paper towel, some distilled water or filtered at least. Then wet the paper towel pretty wet but not dripping. Fold the seeds into the center of the towel. Put in to the zip lock and place in a warm and dark place 70-75 deg. after 24 hrs. check every 12 hrs. works every time.

kushedout, like GSR said. Just to mention that I used 8 sheets of towel and placed the seeds in the middle.

Hi KO,
If you keep them under 80 you'll be golden. Here is something I ALWAYS refer back to when I am wondering about a topic involved with gardening. I ask myself how would mother nature treat the situation, I ask her quite often and I get my solution. no really I do, lol ask her once in a while and see what she says.
