Rep Power: 53 | | Question on plants put out late
Will plants put out late, as in now, automatically enter flowering stage since the season is upon us folks here in the north?

its a bit late for planting in colder northern climates. you can put them outside for awhile, then finish them up inside if you can? if you have seeds now you are looking at 3+ months which would mean harvest sometime in late Oct, which is way too cold for the plants in many northern areas.

I was led to believe that once the weed plant was subjected to less hours it would go into flowering stage. I was hoping to have a couple plants to build up my own seed bank. Darn it. Quote:

I guess it would depend upon the strain and how far along your plants are when you put them out. If you are in the northern east.. new york and above.. it may get a bit cold on you. A bit south, you can probably still get away if you put them out right now and then can flower in 8-10 weeks. It would be a little late for a seedling at this point..

hey you can still put them out but having a plant at that age its not going to produce any amount thats worth taking the chance. There are some varieties that take some time even when put into strait flower times...12/12 But most your bag seed and indica domanent varieties will still be able to go into flower. Unless its heavy sativa or rudelious miss spell i know or something of those sorts you'll probably go right into flower but I know many people that do sea of green and they put their plants strait from root to flower so you shouldn't be no diffrent.

It depends if they are clones or seedlings. I planted seedlings in March. Then cloned them. technically these clones are started in March, same age as the mother so they will finish in plenty of time for us, in Canada. Also, with the weather we are having here, it could be a longer time till snow flies. I had plants in the ground till the end of October last year. Depends how El Niño treats us up here!

I agree with Jangel, If they are older seedlings or clones then it is ok, you just will not get as much yield, once it turns September they all should have a big burst. A few of my short girls, 100% Indica, got started in mid June but these are known for their fast growth.

You are right Dez! It really doesnt matter if they are from seeds or clones. If you put them out now they will definitely start to flower right away. They go by the legnth of the days outdoors just like indoors. Clones will do strange stuff if you put them out early with the seeds. I dont put my Kush strains or any cloned strains outdoors till mid-late June. If you do they flower right away and then go back to veg then flower again and it ruins the yield. I think its because they get used to the indoor cycle. Im going to leave one outdoors for the whole year and see if it changes. So put those babies out Dez you are going to be fine. I do it every year. Plus you get a better yield outdoors. Enjoy!

I thought so because my indoor grow had a late comer that flowered right away and was harvested along with the other four. That's where I got my idea from to try some late ones as a backup in case others were stolen or confiscated. Quote:
