Rep Power: 101 | | Pots or Ground?
This question is sort of after the fact. Meaning Ive already started, I just want to see if I made a mistake. I have a small 5x8 pvc greenhouse. Should I plant my plants In the ground or put them in 3 or 5 gallon pots? I have 3 Kushage on 1 sweet purp out there already. I just wonder if I should transplant them to the ground. I spent the morning diging up one side of the house and filling the holes with soil for some seeds Ive got germing. (MK Ultra, and Pakastni Valley). I got some pics, but i cant find my kids USB cable. Ill post them later.

hello my friend, in greenhouses its really up to you, pots would be my prefrence so as not to have to keep digging and resoiling, but its really just your preference.

pots or ground..
i only use pots if i dont have ground. its so much easier after the initial hard work of soil prep. all you need is water and sun. the roots have no problem cause they never get rootbound.. but thats just me... gotta love mother nature for her simplicity...

I have used both, I believe the ones growing in the ground have the chance to become bigger and produce more then if in pots,

so general consensus is ground if you want bigger plants without so much to worry about but pots for if you have limited space.

Well thats what I figured. In the ground. Im glad I started the first ones in pots though. I can see my "house" is not going to be big enough for 10 plants. What Ill most likely do is put the potted ones in the flower room oand then center the house over the ones that will be in the ground. I figure I got a few month before the plant size causes problems.

Your plants look great, Fman, but I have a concern. Is that PVC fabric? Some companies made Grow Huts out of PVC fabric and the fabric breaks down, with the C = Chorine killing the plants inside. Of course they had HID lighting inside, but I don't know if your temps inside will be any lower. From what I've read you'll probably have to vent it, but I thought you'd like to be aware of a possible problem. There are other fabrics available. To my knowledge PVC is the only one that causes problems. Best of luck on your grow,Tex

The ones in the pots are staying in pots. Ive got some seedling that I am going to plant as soon as the roots come out the bottom of the rw. Thoes were the ones I was asking about. I have decided to put them the ground.

These are the seedlings. I am only going to plant 5 of these seedlings. The rest are going into the indoor garden. Picture 259.jpg Picture 260.jpg
The first pic is of some Pakistani Valley Kush 2 of them are going into the ground, the rest for my indoor room. In the second shot the single one is a California Hash plant, thats going outside, the next 2 are Wild Thai 1 goes outside,1 in the indoor room, and the one in back is some MK Ultra, 1 for outside 1 for the room.

You're in good shape, Fman. That's polyethylene. I've noticed some of the garbage bags today decompose in the sun. I hope your greenhouse doesn't. Seriously, keep us posted on how long the plastic holds up. I might build one myself. Best of luck on your grow. Tex | | The Following User Says Thank You to Texas Liar For This Useful Post: | |

Ive been using VISQUEEN (on construction sites) fo many, many years. it WONT last. I know that out in the sun that plastic is going to degrade and fall apart. Im sure it will last the growing season though. I honestly never timed how long it lasted on the job, but it does break down. I used 6 mil which is fairly thick. nice thing is the roll is 10' wide by 25' long so i got enough to cover the "house " again, if I have too.

Well I planted them in the ground. One took off, the other went into shock. The third I put outside in the ground yesterday. The little ones are doing good, I just think i started them wayyy too late (June). They have been in the ground about 3 weeks. The one in front went into shock, it started to recover, then last week it got REAL HOT here. The plant started to wilt from the heat, in an effort to save it I gave it TOOOO much water. I took a bunch of cutts from it yesterday (6) they are looking very good (Pics later). Im going to take a few more cuts today, just in case it dies, Ill be able to keep it alive in clones. The big one is starting to flower already. I hope it finishes up sometime in mid to late SEPT. The one outside has been showing pistles since June. I was going to put it in my room under the 400, but decided to leave it outside and let nature take its course. Yesterday I realized it was rootbound so I planted in the ground nex to the wall. ( Ive used that spot before with great success). Oh yea the 2 are KUSHAGE from Cal. Bean Bank, the 3 little ones are Pakistani Valley Kush, Wild Thai, and MK Ultra. The PVK, and WT are from World of Seeds, and the MK is from TH Seeds. The one next to the wall is Sweet Purple, that was a seed in a bag of Meds. Well thats about it for my greenhouse, later Ill start a journal for the growroom.
