Default Where should I place carbon filter in room?

The guy at the hydro store said in the middle of the room, which sux because thats where all my plants are. ITs a big charcoal filter (6"). Im going to have the fan right on top of the filter, with it exhausting out through a wall.

I wanted to have my filter sittting on the floor, at the opposite end of my intake(which is just a window a/c unit). However, its going to have a wall about 5" from one side of the filter. The guy at the store said this is bad because the air needs to be sucked in all the way around the filter and it being close to a wall will prevent this.

If someone with experience in this could help, id be grateful.

Thanks!!

Yes get some room around it, best way I found was hanging it on a light yoyo near the center of the room with no obstruction being up in the air on the yoyo.

Know way one of those yoyos can hold this. Id like to put in in the air, but would be afraid of it falling on plants.

Then some rope, works for me, the fact that it's in the air is helpful I would think

Get some metal strapping that they use for holding pipes up(home depot). It has holes in it so you can adjust the strapping accordingly and just screw it up with dry wall or deck screws.

It will work no matter where you place it in the room if you have negative pressure in the room when it is on. (the door tries to pull open) I've sat em on a chair...a ladder... chained em up....etc. just make sure that you have >>no doubt>> it's secure if you mount it up off the floor. A friend of mine was mere inches from a Can that came off the ceiling when he slammed the growroom door once. A few more inches and he'd of been severely injured...or worse.

good luck
