Rep Power: 33 | | What do you prefer when going into flower mode?
Do u just take your plant from veg and stick right into flower room for 12 hours then click the light off ?..or do u prefer sticking them in flower room for 12hr dark then switch on the big light?..what are the ups and downs also...

I do 12 hours on during the day, 12 off at night. Lights are set to come on at 7AM, go off at 7PM.

Rep Power: 201 | | I try to keep them synced to the same "on" time. If I'm vegging from 12am to 6pm, I'll start them to flower at 12am and cut the lights at 12pm the first day, then they stay on that schedule until completion. | | The Following User Says Thank You to Zigzagman For This Useful Post: | |

I do the thing where you leave the lights off for 24 hours between veg and flower, then start the 12/12 cycle. Don't know if it makes much difference but its suppose to signal the plant to flower better or something like that. I also run my light cycle as much at night time as possible for the cooler temps and there is less likely to be a bunch of other power on at night. I have blown a breaker or two when the wife decides to blow dry her hair and one of the kids is vacuuming while the grow room is on.

I've always just stuck them in there whenever and they do fine....good question though.
I run my lights at night so the electric meter is not spinning all day....You know, what if no one is home, they check the meter and it's spinning fast. I worry sometimes haha
good luck

I have my light on 6am - 6pm so as not to attract too much attention from any light escaping from my grow room (room within a room) also working from home means i am in if anything decided to catch fire. All in all it's down to the individual.
Not a bad or stupid question at all.
Peace

i also have gone straight from 18/6 to 12/12 using the same ON time of 6pm. i run it at night since a)temps are cooler, b)nothing else is on since im asleep so there is a smooth energy flow from day to night, no real spikes, and c)im home then just in case there is a problem.

I veg on 24 hour light and have my flower room lights on from 3 pm to 3 am. This is due to cheaper power rates in off hours. I would love to have it all after 8pm here for lights on, but with my schedule, it would not give me enough time to work on my flowering girls with that light schedule.

When I switch to flowering I leave the lights off for 12+ hours up to 24 hours just so I can get the timer to whatever time I prefer.
My closet is light proof and I'm a late nighter so I have my lights come on at 10pm and shut off at 10am. So really timing the light cycle the way you want it is the only real advantage. I don't believe that the extra darkness makes a different.
One thing I read in George Cervantes's Grow Bible was that once the plants have been on a 12/12 cycle for a few weeks you can bump it up to 13/12 to get a little extra push out of the plants without affecting the flowering cycle at all. He also mentions that people have also sworn by 12 light and 6 hours darkness (He does not personally recommend it)
