Angry Power Outage!

A freakin' tornado rolled through yesterday and killed power for the town through the night.... It was killed 4 hours before the dark cycle.... and came on on an hour after the dark cycle would normally be over... so for that day the cycle was.... 8 hours of light and 16 hours of darkness..... THEN the power failed for another 2 hours while they were fixing it i guess....

Soo i set it all back to the normal settings, i figure that would be the best way to deal with this shock to the plants.

What would you do?

If they are in flower...should not mess the works up too bad if it was just one occassion. If in veg...a little shock never hurt 'em a bit...just put them back on their schedule and hope for the best.

What else can ya do? (nuthin I know of...maybe add a little Superthrive to the feed to let them get some vitamins...otherwise there ain't much that I know of. (Course, I don't know much either..LOL!)

grow on - it been less the 48h of mess so no damage worth notice been done so far - you guys are okay, nothing hit ya or?

just don't worry, if the lights are back on now and the cycle is set again continue as noting had happened, rather check on your neighbors if they are all right or need some help.

So very true Green! People have to help others when this happens. Remember the senior that may have a tree down on their driveway and no way to deal with it. Pay it foreward. Someday we might need someone's help when we are old and feeble.

Also, out here no hydro, no water as no pump to get it from the well. I keep water in containers all the time. Why store an empty container if you can fill it with water? Takes the same room and it can save a life in an emergency. All my summer water cooler bottles (thermoses) have water in them. doesn't hurt them at all, and if you need it, just dump, wash it out and use. But if you need the water and have none, what do you do?

Pray for rain?

I could have collected 500 gal. of rain water yesterday if I would have had a container to keep it in...still, I was able to save 60 gal of it for future use. If you are keeping your spare water in a tub, keep an airstone going in there to keep the water oxygenated and free of algae. Darkened containers work best.

ISO: How do you do that? Anyone? That would be worth looking into for me and others, I have no clue how to make a rain saving system. I have many empty food grade barrels around. Large ones. Could I use them?

I live in a hurricane state. You lose your power for weeks at a time here every time one hits or comes real close.I have a generator on stand by 365 days of the year. Now that gas is $4.00 gal it would kill this state if we have one this year. That gen take 8 gals to run 12 hours. It's in the 90 degree at night after one of them,no ac just a fan,it stinks. Between the fires and the threat of wild fires water is most inportan here.We have all kinds of water bans.Every time they say it's coming this way we fill everything we have with water. When the city water power go down you cant use it or drink it.I fill the bath tub full and three 10 gal drink coolers.Hobo you will be ok,if they were outside they would be worst off. They will shake it off in aday or two.You just dont want it happen all the time. Peace

Hey Jangels, yes you can. Some poeple use tarps to catch water.Drive 4 posts in the ground and stretch the trap letting it bag down a bit.You can put a rock in the middle to make it come to a funnel and put a water bed drain fitting there and run a hose in to the barrel. The bigger the tarp more water you can catch. To big and you have weight problem. One gallon = 8.33 pounds. You can catch alot of water with a 8'x8' tarp.Peace
