i have about 20 clones being rooted right now and they are going to go into a 3'X3'x4.5' space under a 400 watt HPS once they have rooted. i'm vegging them for 5 days and then throwing the lights to 12/12. since i'm planning on small plants i'm wondering if i can use 1 gallon pots or if i should use 1.5 gallon pots. i'll be growing in soil. thanks.

depends on what your going for... I've done the "quicky grow" in pots as small as coffee cups. Basically weak cones I didn't think were worth the transplant. Let 'em run out anyway and got 1/8 of each one. it ain't bigtime but it works!

I use one gallon size white square pots in my closet... I have six and they seem to do just fine as long as you don't let the plants get too big. My plants are about to harvest and they are about three feet tall each, although much bushier this time than I expected. I also tried a supercropping technique this time by topping all of the plants very early on and can say that it has for sure doubled my yield.

i vote 1.5 gal if you got the space. more room for roots is better. i understand the quick grow idea, but you may want to veg more than 5 days. at least a week (preferably two) would increase yields significantly. unless your strain is one that is specifically good at performing from 12/12, you can expect only a few grams per plant (maybe 7g tops if good nutrients and taken care of well). another two weeks of veg can double that yield amount easily

thanks everyone. i've got something called "venice kush" and Headband for this grow. i got the idea of a 5 day veg from some articles i was reading on small perpetual grows. i need to be finished by christmas so i'm in a little rush but i could probably veg for a little longer, especially if it will greatly effect yield. thanks.
