Disgard what they do not use. I do mine in series. So water a couple, let them suck up the water, then use that dish for the next one and top off. That way you only have a bit to disgard. If it has nutes in it, don't keep it. It is not a good thing to premix and keep nutes in water. They chemically change with heat and time so they can actually explode on you. Especially organic nutes. And they stink!

Well i just tried your method of watering and indeed they did take on a lot more water than i had originally been giving them, i poured some in from the top and some from the bottom, the stuff in the drip tray i could see being taken in by the plant, gave them water like this until they stopped taking it in. With my next grow i intend using a soil that i have mixed myself and it shall have plenty perlite in it and no nutrients, i will control the nutrients as and when they are required.

Do you think i will see any difference in the girls if i continue to water them like this for the next two weeks?

Peace and light

Yes, you will see them take off I bet you. Let us know. You might not have to water as often now. If you do not have a moisture meter, then just put your finger in the soil, about an inch or less. Then quickly take it to your cheek. If it is cool, then there is still moisture in there and do not water them. If it is not, then water away. Neat aiy?

Any time, sweetie. Glad I could help.

All you have to do is pay it foreward, like Tracey does.

And I know you will.

McBong

PS; nipped a few small buds off from lower down the plant, just as a wee tester for now, gave them the
micro method of drying, OMG what a super nice heady buzz, made my mind up that i'm going to leave
the girls as long as i dare before harvesting, i want super duper couchlock.

Don't leave them too long, Mcbong. I like that cerebral buzz. I like something i can still think on, so I harvest at just cloudy, a few amber. If you want couchlock, then keep an eye on them, and do your "Test the trichs for me" Test at different stages, then you will have FOR THIS TYPE OF PLANT your bar set at when to harvest. If you do another type, next grow, then do the same for that, as each is unique. Also, some types of plants never GO amber. And if you wait, the trichs will degrade and you will lose it. Also keep in mind that during a natural, slow cure the trichs keep ripening. So what might be 3/4 cloudy and 1/4 amber when you harvest will end up maybe 2/3 cloudy, 1/3 amber.

You get the idea.

And McBong, what Tracey is doing by helping you is paying it forward, for the help she received. We don't do it for thanks now, or even tomorrow. It is because, as you said, if everyone does it, all over the world, then the world would indeed be a better place. This idea started in a book published in 2000 “Pay It Forward” is a book written by Catherine Ryan Hyde. In my research I see it is an old idea, maybe reaching it's world wide implementation today.

Also is a movie....see the link below.

Here is a link to the movie...I think I will do a post about this concept as well.

Thanks for the idea McBong!

j-angel; I have decided to use the method you suggest and do testers, with this being my first grow it should give me a starting point for what i like and when to harvest. If i like the effects of how it is just now should i start to flush it for ten day or just harvest it as i think it's ready??

As for the "pay it forward" i thought that is what it was and i shall do what i can, where i can.

Peace and light

I don't know that you really need to flush. If you like it now, then do as I suggested and harvest the ripe buds, let the rest continue on growing and ripening. You will increase your yield as well. Here is a post on To Flush or not to Flush

And you can also do a search on this. I never flush. I just don't feel it would improve my buds, as most of my nutes are in the soil. I just use blackstrap molasses for the last bit and I don't think they are missing a thing...

Peace

Cheers tracey.

Got a bit of a dilemma now as i think the top of one of the girls is ready but i am unsure as to where to cut, i was thinking of cutting the top bud and leaving the rest to mature for a bit longer but just don't know where to cut it. I have added some pics and if anyone can give advice please do so as this is the first harvest ever for me.

Thanks in advance

Peace

What is the bud on the bottom of the cola like? It looks pretty good~! I would cut off the whole cola, ending where the leaves only are. That is a nice big bud! Good job!

If you look in your first picture, right at the bottom of the frame, cut there. Then trim all the fan leaves off and dry them. Gradually you will have enough for some bubble hash if you save all the leaves. They have trichs on them too. Also save anything you trim off the bud with your leaves. Good to make canna butter or bubble hash or gumby hash out of...save it all! All I say!!

Nuuk nuuuk nuuuuukkkk!

A cola is the long flowering spike of a pot plant...the big bud. Here are a few pics to help you understand...

In the first picture I cut about there, then trimmed the bud as the second picture. You can see the smaller buds further down the plant. I left them to grow more, and that way I increase my yeild.

Thank you so much that has cleared it up for me, i just wasnt sure what a cola was, so if i understand you correctly i should cut it at the lowest part i think is the main bud. The lower of the two marks is closer to the level of the other buds on the plant does that make any difference?

Peace
