Tracey cheers for that, would you suggest taking a little nip from the top or one of the buds near the top as a tester? I have just looked at the Trichs on the plant i think will be ready first and they seem to have changed colour over night, they went from all clear to almost all milky over most of the plant, i think i may snip a little bud off and dry it in the over as a tester, would i be right in saying that it's gas mark 2 for about ten mins??
Peace and light

Ta muchly, i shall have a wee read at that over a bowl or two. I'm not too sure if the girls will be ready as they are a 8/9 week strain and this is only week 5, mind you the Trichs on the top changed colours over night so i don't know, i think i'm going to have to keep a close eye on them over the next few days and see how it goes. Just now i have one plant totally covered in Trichs, one about half way and the other two are just starting so i may have a staggered harvest. The waiting game begins.
Peace and light

I like to check my plants by going into the room when it is dark, just before the lights turn on. No need to cut anything off the plant when it is dark in there. You'll get great views of the trichs on your scope with a light when you are in the dark. I also like to pull my plants in the morning, so this means you get to check the trichs at literally the same exact time you harvest.
BTW, to check for the smell of a plant you can almost pinch the buds, having your finger come into contact with the bottom of the small leaves the extend out from the bud sites. This will give you just about the most fragrant experience you can have.

Hi all just a quick update on the girls. The smell seems to be getting stronger and stronger as time goes on, i have posted a couple of pics so you can see them.
They are getting 1/4 strength feed at the moment as this is the first nutes they have had since germinating, going to up the nute levels to half at the weekend and then up to full strength by next weekend if all goes well. Only three more weeks to go and i should be ready for a first harvest. Do all strains generally go full term before they are ready or do some become ready to harvest sooner than stated, i ask this as one of my girls seems to be getting there a lot quicker than the other three (pics included).
Peace and light
McBong
PS is it normal for the girls to smell a bit stronger right after feeding/watering??

Yeah i was kinda wondering the same thing, i always thought all strains would smell a lot during flowering. I remember going to a friends house years ago and you couldn't go into his grow room without coming out with your clothes stinking of weed.
Peace and light
McBong
PS; the girls are getting a lot stinkier. I have noticed that one of my girls is doing way better than the other three, full of crystals and trichs and getting a nice resin coating, the trichs are starting to go from all clear to all milky on it, when would be the best time to harvest this one to achieve couch-lock??
thanks in advance.

If it's Big Bang from GHS is should stink to high heaven even in veg.
You might have a knock off or even a fraud.
Or maybe your ferts are neutralizing the odor....
I just made that up... I don't even know if that is possible.

I just made that up... I don't even know if that is possible. | OR it could just be that they were on water only from day one until yesterday.
I find reading a full post gives you all the clues.

Maybe that's your answer!
peace

You know i never even gave that a thought, being a virgin grower i didn't know that the cross genetics would have such an effect on the smell.
Cheers for the info geegee

I found Toke Crazy's TC Killer to be low in odor when we grew it outside. It is a skunk #1 crossed with a White Widow. Now we grew some White Widow from GHS in the garden. While it had a pleasant odor when you stuck your nose in her, she didn't permeate the garden like some of the strains. The Fat Bastard made a definite contribution to the odor. It is a Vancouver Island Purple crossed with a White Widow. The finished product has a nice strong "you know you got the sh*t" smell. Similar to the White Rhino when dried... but very different green.
