Rep Power: 63 | | No smell from plants during flowering
Hi everyone thanks for all the answers to my last questions, i have another regarding the same plants and was wondering if you could help me out with some information.
1st time grow so didn't buy any expensive seeds but did use a reputable seed bank, got a strain called Big Bang (Fem) germinated five and four made it, re-planted them into larger pots to Veg for a few weeks, before flowering them i moved them into five ltr pots everything went well and the end result so far is four good plants with loads of buds on, but, i do have one concern and that is there is practically no smell from the plants at all, i would have thought that more than four weeks into flowering they would be smelling quite a bit. Am i doing something wrong??
recap; good seed's from reputable seed bank
re-potted for veg and flowering
only been giving them water
400 watt light
plants getting enough light ( thanks to advice from my last post )
five weeks into and eight week strain
Any advice welcomed, seasoned smoker but virgin grower.
Thanks in advance
McBong

Well, Some Strains Will Smell During Veg., Many Don't, Some Strain's Stink Bad All The Way Through Flowering & Get Really Bad The Last Few Week's Of Flowering, Some Don't Start Getting Stinky Tell The Last Few Weeks Of Flowering, But Most All Will Get Stinky The Last Few Week's, So Just Wait It's Coming, Then You Will Be Freaking About How Bad It's Reeking, LOL..

hey mcbong!!!!
you're in the same place as me.....i can smell your plants from here!!!(joking!!)
i've done 3 grows...the first 2 i fed nothing but water(distilled). i didn't know what they were apart from they were indica(growing for oil).
i'd have thought they would stink but they didn't......but we smoked the leftovers after making oil and it was still ok!!
we've also smoked the oil and after 2 puffs i was out the game and had to go to bed!!!! from weed with no smell no less!!!!
this grow i've been using biobizz nutes and i must say they are reeking(white widow)
so although i got no clear answers for you it may be to do with lack of nutes????
sorry i can't help more but i'm sure someone else will!!!

Hi again, Hatch i look forward to the freekin' . Tracey thanks for the info i think it may bee lack of nutes as they have been getting water only from day one, i have just sourced myself some of the Bio-bizz/bloom and another one cant remember just what at the moment, going to be giving them a feed later on and i shall post back the results, would you recommend giving them a little to start with and building it up over a few days or just to go with what it says on the bottles, nearly five weeks into flowering an eight week strain i don't want to kill them at this stage of the game.
cheers in advance.

Plant looks very healthy. Personally, for an 8 week strain, the 5th week is the last week I run inorganic nutrients, except for silica. So in week 5 I hit them with my base nutrient, liquid bat guano, silica, and I start giving them molasses at 1/2 str (5ml/2 gallons) . Week 6 I do only liquid bat guano, silica and molasses (5ml/gallon). Week 7 I only do liquid bat guano and molasses. Week 8 is just molasses.
The base nutrient I use is Botanicare PureBlend Pro Soil (at a max of 13-14ml/gallon), with CAL/MAG+. Botanicare silica blast is my source of silica (fed at 5-10ml/gallon).

as for 615a's post you would prob get most of it at the grow shop except the botanicare.....they seem to favour bio bizz over here for some reason....

NEWS FLASH ;
Gave the plants 1/4 strength Bio-biz feed today at 12pm and already i have noticed an increase in smell from my girls, i'm so happy i have a smile from ear to ear now.
Another quick question; should i trim off some of the fan leaves to allow more light penetration to the lower buds?
Cheers

YAY!!!! woot woot!!!
thtas great news mcbong!!!
its a divided camp on trimming the fan leaves.......i have decided from my many hours of reading that as you can harvest in stages the leaves are best left(you can tuck them under and stuff)as they are the food factory for the plant......unless they are dead in which case i'd take them off.....thats just my tuppence worth and i'm sure someone else will think different?
i think you should try not to mess too much since you're close to the end!!!!

Not messing at all was my plan but a few things went wrong along the way and i had to intervene, i think ill try the tucking under method and see how that goes, out of four plants i have 2 covered in Trichs and two without so far just hope the other two catch up soon, mind you i could harvest them Noah style, do two and leave the other two another week if need be to ripen fully.
Been checking daily with an achromatic lens to see if the trichs change colours but not %100 sure what colour they should be when they are ready at present they are clear to milky.
cheers

You want half amber for most strains. But, it really depends on the strain.
