The Miracle of Birth - a new strain is born!

So, I finally tried my hand a growing from seed (yep,got this far without ever hatching a seed!)

This is the first baby...just peeking her (hope!) head out of the soil. The strain is called "Purple Willie", and it is a cross a med. friend of mine did with a Sweet Willie female and a Grape Ape male.



There is one other plant of this strain in veg elsewhere, and it is doing well in another friends outdoor grow, but this will be my first ever from seed, and it will be ready before the outdoor plant will be done. Can't wait to take the first toke of this stuff!

Rather than go though the paper towel method to hatch the seed, I just put 6 in individual small pots, set them about 1/2" deep, and kept the soil over the top of them moist, and covered with a piece of newspaper about 18" from the T-5 lights. These seeds were planted the 9th, so in just 4 days this one hatched and broke ground. Hoping for more by tonight!

Ya just gotta love babies....especially of a new strain never smoked before!

I've heard that F1 plants are not as stable. Hope this one is, as I want to veg it up good, then take about 8 clones from her and do an ebb/flo grow with them (I know, I'm getting ahead of myself..LOL)

Do F1's tend to hermie more often or easier? Anything I can do to reduce that chance? (aside from keeping things perfect in the grow room..LOL)

Just genetics hon. Not much you can do. I have 4 Lethal Purple. 2 look like sativa's going on 4 ft, and 2 look like indica's, maybe 18 inches. started the same time. I think this is also supposed to be stablized but that is what i got.

Update:

Thereare now 4 new babies in the ISO house...

Damn...is this all there is to growing from seed? (And here I was all worried about it..LOL)

2 more seem to be working it out, hope to see their little heads popping out before days end...be nice to go 6/6 on these..!

Naaa...like any baby all shriveled up still. Give me about 30 days and I'll have her (and her sisters!) all dressed up for the party..

I could see another one ready to poke out...that'll make 5/6 so far.

Here's an update pic...5 of 6 now are popped out and settling in. Not sure what happened on the last seed, but I'll take 5 just fine!



I've got these sitting in a tray about 10" under the T-5's. Having never grown from seed, I sure don't want to either fry, or stretch these babies. They sure came out of the gate in a hurry! Shot right up about an inch and a half on one of 'em.
