Installed an extra breaker in my panel

I had a close friend of mine, who happens to be an electrician, wire me up a new circuit breaker in my panel, and ran a line and outlet up into my grow room. I just got a new airconditioner/dehumidifier and it drawsabout 7.5 amps, and i was running already 14 amps on a 15 amp breaker. So with this new circuit, i can run about 12 amps on one and 10 amps on another. This is a much safer way for me to operate.

You can rest at ease now for sure. I built my grow room with a seperate sub-panel, I can go away on vacation and not worry about a thing. Its realy worth it.

With the new line and breaker, your grow room is much safer. It is not a good idea to push your breakers to the limit. As a faulty breaker can cause a fire.

agreed i had it the same way and it worked great for me a sub panel makes it a little easier to sleep at night.

We put in 3 more breakers, but not a seperate panel. Total of 45 amps, but you only want to push each 15 amp breaker to 12 amps. I have one plug outlet per 15 amp breaker and wanted more but my man said it was plenty. I am sure he is right. I don't know the formula for figureing it out. Can anyone add that? I know there is one.

You can run all the "plug in outlets" you want from one breaker...just don't exceed the capacity (cumulative) of the breaker.

I have a separate breaker box in my grow area, containing 2 @ 15A and 1 breaker at 30A (10/2 wire used for safety).

Oh I know that ISO, but say if you are running ONE 400w light fixture on one breaker, that is how many amps? Then add a fan or whatever and you are pretty much at max.

you do not want another plug pulling that kind of power off the same breaker. I have lots of power, and have it safely spred out, with all plugs GFI's.

On a 15 amp circuit you could safely run 2 of the 400W HID lights, plus a intake or exhaust fan. 400W = about 4 amps (in general, with room to spare), so, 2 of them would be 8 amps, plus a 2-3 amp fan = 10 amps. VERY safe for a 15 amp circuit if that is all that is on it.

amps= watts/volts

1000 watts is about 9 amps at 110 volts.

a constant load is considered 4 hours straight more, a 15 amp breaker can safely run 14 amps or so constantly and up to 15 technically on a non constant load.

so a 15 amp breaker should be able to take about 1400 watts constantly and close to 1600 on non constant.
