| Hey there. Over the weekend I: 1)divided my closet into 3 areas. *veg / flower / exhaust (possibly adding a cloning area to the exhaust section later)*2)purchased the basic 4" can-fan 3)built the "diy charcoal filter" 4)installed the fan and filter to the top portion of my closet, also venting the exhaust to the "attic area" 5)changed fill tubs, and moved plants to the new home. VEG ONLY SO FAR, clones are finally rooting up. GOAL: Optimize airflow, preferably without running dryer venting from the window, for fresh intake. What would you do?

| I have no vents as of yet. all 3 areas will be air / light- tight. Since Veg is the only area with plants in it currently, Ive got the panda plastic door open for airflow until I figure out a plan of action. I guess the real question is: how do I get fresh air from the window, 12' away, to the areas, in a manner that doestn allow light out or in? AND does not utilize ducting...

| if you put an Air conditioner in your window it will constantly allow fresh air to flow into your room..you will have a kind of passive intake since your exhaust will be pulling air out constantly air will be pulled in from any possible opening via. AC unit....additionally an AC will help keep your temps optimum..this is how i have my room set up at least and it works pretty damn well. yours might be a little different if its a closet set up and your planning on closing off any kind of possible air flow into your room.

| Nice set up. Is there a way to open an intake on the bottom of your veg area pulling the fresh air through your veg into flower and out to your attic? Fresh air coming in from the bottom of your cabinet seems the best if at all possible. Is there a reason you cant use the air in the room the cabinet is in? If it's in your home and your home is comfortable it should work as a fresh air intake without the window. Inside air temps and humidity are more predictable than outside.

| IceIceBaby What kind of difference do you have in humidity using an AC compared to fresh outside air? Just wondering if Id need to add something else to counter the AC effects on humidity.

| AC lowers humidity and that's a good thing.

| yea before I changed things around and things were less airtight than they are now, my humidity was betwween 19% and 35%. Ive already seen it shoot up to 50% overnight, so maybe the ac will be my best option. man more power usage.. ![]()

my humidity stays around 30%-45% but can get as low as 15% or 16%...air conditioning units are a good all round tool for a good grow room IMO specially during the coming summer months when hot days can be a problem. i got a dehumidifier as well but rarely need to use it...probably just a waste of money! btw, i am a hydro ebb n flow user and am using a 30 gallon res for one tray and a 20 gallon res for my other...neither have tops on them so this is a lot of water sitting out that can get evaporated into the air in my room and jack the humidity but with my AC and 400 cfm exhaust, everything is running at optimum levels (THANK GOD!). you should think about it like this, if you have a strong enough exhaust you just need to give air somewhere to get pulled in from (ie. AC unit....even if you are not running it air will be pulled through its vents) so you will have a passive exhaust..if im correct.

| you want your humidity below 50 percent for flowering in a nutshell, but you also want air flowing through, not remaining stagnant. and so that fresh air can come replace the co2 depleted air thats stuck in your closet. and so that mold and mildew particles have a chance to settle and not develop on your plant.
