Default Fluoros, UVB and flowering

I just watched Marijuana Man's video on trichomes.

He was talking about adding UVB lights into the mix because apparently, the UVB produces more THC. As usual, a little idea turned into big thinking. I googled UVB lights. Any pet store that carries reptile supplies will have UVB lights in various shapes, sizes and wattages (ranging from compacts similar to CFL's to tubes.). Prices range from about $8 for the compact bulb to about $70-75 for a UVB-Mercury vapor combo light. The lights are advertised as being able to throw light up to 20". UVB is essential for reptiles for bone regeneration and vitamin D. They also add heat.

My thought was to add a couple of UVB tubes (about $25) from Petco or Petsmart in the 12/12 side of my closet. It sounds to me that since I LST for bushiness and low height, adding this to a grow as small as I am planning would be worth the money.

Has anyone added UVB and what were the results? Watching that vid got me all excited and I'm interested in knowing if it worked.

I never tried it...but I have read posts that claim it had no noticable effect except adding unneccesary heat to the grow...

I am currently experimenting with this. I have two reptisun 10% UVB 2 ft fluoros in my flower room right now, as of yet I haven't noticed any more crystalization. but I'm still early in flowering at this point.

I guess the proof is in the end product. I'm curious as hell. Keep us posted.

This is all in the interest of science, of course....
