Rep Power: 163 | | Do I have a good Soil pH - Moisture Meter?
I got this meter for soil, I normally do Hydro and just getting started with on plant in soil and wondered if I'm good with this meter?
I calibrated it to my other meters and Ph calibrating solution and seems right on.
Thanks |

looks better than the one I have... I bought one for about ten bucks from home depot, it has a gauge with a needle on it...lol. I only used it about two or three times then just kept growing without it. I actually grew an entire grow from start to finish without ever testing the soil... don't know why or how it worked out but it did.

I got that junker from HD too, no good, but how do I test PPM?
By checking the water I put in first with my hydro meter?

I have the cheap one too! Put the tip in viniger and it still said 7.0. It never moved! Took it apart and everything looked electricly sound so maybe it was a bad tip. I use the strips for my water but nothing for the soil so far. (Crossing fingers)

OK I think I got the answer, feel like Johnny Carson, gets stopped for directions and the guys gives him the directions! Quote:
you don't set the ppm of the soil. only pH.
how it works is to check run off for ppm and know when to feed or not
say the food goes in at 1000 ppm. and when you check the first little run off out the bottom and its higher than what went in then it isn't drinking, so back off the food.
If it comes out lower than when it went in then it needs a stronger mix. and that`s it.
Knowing what goes in and what goes out is so important for me to keep them lush right till the end and being able to push them hard and not have troubles.
