Default CO2 at night.

Im thinking of adding a yeast and sugar co2 generator in my flower room. Id like to know about co2 at night. Do the plants need or use co2 when the lights are out? Will bubbleing co2 at night when all the fans are off be any kind of problem?.

Hey Fman,The plants take in co2 at lights on and light off the plant gives off O2.You feed co2 to them at lights on and the exhaust fans off just the lights and the co2 for the aloted time and then the fan comes back on and removes the co2.This happens two or three times aday in veg and flowering. I'am getting a co2 20lb tank and regulater for my cab soon.Hope this helps.Peace

Toke thanks , but Im thinking of using yeast and sugar. I think its kinda tough to regulate that type of set up. So what im trying to find out is will it hurt the plants to have co2 at night with the lights out.

On another site I did ask how much pressure co2 is capable of making, so I could put it in a tank, and then use a flow meter. Nobody seemed to understand what I was asking ,and I never got an answer to that.

Hey fman - I have not used co2 for growing MJ.. but I have for my beer meister. I am not quite sure what you mean either.. it may be the wake n bake though. it sounds to me like you are trying to generate your own co2 in a sealed container, then regulate it out to the plants? And.. you are curious if you can generate enough co2 pressure in that container to do so?

And.. I am not sure that it would hurt the plants to have co2 during lights off from yeast/sugar.. I just don't think they are absorbing as much, if any since they are giving of o2 during that cycle. That is the way I understood it, but not 100% sure on that.

OK this has turned into a 2 question thread. My original question-
1. will co2 ,at night ,no lights , no fan , nothing, will that hurt my plants?

2. If I put yeast and sugar into a SEALED TANK, how much pressure is it capable of making. Will it make 10 lbs or 1000lbs., or I would think, somewhere inbetween. but how much? Please dont tell me it will blow the top off. Im talking about using a REAL co2 tank, and a Real flow meter, but instead of taking it to the welding supply house for refilling, make my own co2 with the yeast and sugar.

Hey Fman,Yes it dose cause problems with your plants. They would be getting co2 24 hours a day and no time to process the co2 and turn it to o2.It would be like over watering.Putting sugar and yeast in a co2 tank is fine. The tank will hold just over 2200 lbs.of pressure in a 10# tank. You will have a time cleaning out the tank and keeping it out of the regulator and getting it sealed so it will hold pressure. There is by-products of making your own co2.If you had two rooms you could switch it one room to the other. Most poeple using co2 {dry ice, sugar&yeast,} close the dry ice box and stop it that way ,the yeast co2 you cant stop it from working, but it dosent give the plants enough to do it very much good.If you want to use co2 go with the tanks,it easy and you can control the co2 levels and not over do it and not under do it.Hope that helps. Peace

you keep in mind here that plants use oxygen during the dark cycle and not CO2 - they actually emit CO2 in this phase - and so all they need is O2 during night
