Somewhere I heard that you can not clone a clone. Is this true?

Completely untrue. There are many strains that are 'clone only' meaning you cannot get them in seed form.

You should be able to clone and clone and clone.... Make sure you have enough on the donor to take without hurting the donor.

Put It This Way, For The Last 10++++Years I Got Some Clones From The Bay Area (36), I Get 10 To 12 Crop's A Year Each 60 Plants So, I Would Need Atleast 600 Clones A Year 10++++ So That's Atleast 6,000 Clones In 10 Years That Started From 36 Original Clones, So My Answer Would Have To Be Yes, You Can Clone From A Clone Ect.....

Maybe it fell to earth from the sky and a lucky man picked it up and cloned it. LOL
There are many species of plant that are difficult to clone ( Autoflowers ) , because of their instant flowering properties. However even these CAN be cloned if you wanted.

There are many species of plant that are difficult to clone ( Autoflowers ) , because of their instant flowering properties. However even these CAN be cloned if you wanted. | Many of the clone only varieties are different pheno types of a plant. This is why seeds can be unreliable and why it takes a good breeder to develope a variety. Say you get out a lot of 100 seeds the ONE type of plant you want in all of them, that you have been breeding towards, and there are only say 3 of what you have been working for, and no males. Then you clone this one pheno type and have clone only varieties. A good breeder will keep trying and trying to get this pheno type again. But not always does it work. This is genetics. Then you have to cube it etc etc until you reliably get that same pheno type before you can be sure what you are selling as a type will be true to that.
I recieved some MTF seeds. This is supposed to be a clone only variety. It has two pheno types. I have never had this genus before so I am not sure which is the TRUE well known MTF. One is a short stocky indica looking variety. The other is again indica but taller and less bushy. Both are MTF. Which is the TRUE MTF genus?????? | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to jangel For This Useful Post: | |

It's funny, here in Los Angeles there are so many different cuts of OG Kush going around. Which is the 'true' OG Kush? Which is that one that you remember from 10 years ago?
I always like to refer to the Chemdawg story (of which OG Kush is supposedly a decendent of). This guy Chemdawg got 12 seeds from an OZ and each one sprouted is a different pheno of which a couple are legendary strains that are clone only (I know there's a seed company that supposedly sells them now but it's still fairly new I think so I'm not sure if they are bonafide). If you haven't heard the story google 'chemdawg history'.

After reading the argument of East and West coast, It has made me think about the prospect of some seed I have.
The seed is Pot of Gold, I have 3 growing at the moment. They came from a POG clone that went hermi after I stressed it in the last week of flowering.
Will this mean I have 3 different pheno type plants? If so will they all smoke different. Quote: |
cloned individuals , although identical in genotype, will differ from each other in phenotype because of variations in their developmental environments.

It may be taken as a general rule that the outcome of development of any genotype is a unique consequence of the interaction between genome and environment.
