Ok, guys, I can't take it anymore. I haven't been able to grow for some time now because of the maintenance system for the apartments we live in.

See, we've been under new management for close to a year now, and they implemented this "Active Maintenance" policy in which they come around once a month and check the appliances, the thermostat, and spray for bugs. Now, normally I suppose that that would be okay, I mean everything works and there are no bugs crawling around, but for me, it's a bit intrusive.
We've been looking for a house, and it may be awhile, so I think I'm gonna try a soil grow. Mainly because, the week before they come in, they post a letter on the door giving the date and time, so I thought maybe I could get ready to move the lights and plant into the bathroom, then when they come, make like I'm in the bathroom. They're only in for about 10 minutes or so, so I think it would work. EDIT: BTW, the bedroom closet(where it would be) is right next to the bathroom.

Why soil? What difference does it make? Because with a soil grow, you basicly just need the soil and the lights, right? So it should be easier to move? I'm not 100% sure, because I have'nt done a soil grow yet.
Okay, now I have some questions. I have perused the FAQ, and have different books on the subject, but can you experts give me some quick start tips? You know, stuff you can't get out of a book.
I've read that you need one gallon for every foot of growth, is this true?
Is the feeding schedule roughly the same for one plant between the various nutes that are available?
If I think of any more questions, I'll post them.
Thanks for the help in advance guys, and would the bathroom hideout idea be practical? I'm open to ideas, BTW.

Hey Fats Dirt is clean and healty for you and your plants.Get small 3" pots for starting and plan for 2 more transplants. When you get your dirt, include the repotting in with your initial shopping,I do my seeds in the small pots with not alot of stuff but pearlite, wormcastings and soil.
Vids recipie is good and you can add worm casting to it and I use small amounts of molasses as food even in the veg state.
if you go with c.f.l.'s you can outfitt yourself at homedepot for your lights,$30-40.00.(two vanities and a plug)
Be careful and responsible with your bulbs If you use twisties.Look at every box and get the spectrums you want.
A big rubbermaid trash can is a good place for supplies, you will want to get enought soil for the entire grow so you use the same all the way through.
Carefully think out the light cycle.Plan what works for you so you can inspect and poke and prod at leisure.I'm on at nite cuz its hot here.I like to water and feed when the lights come on.
Thats all I got.
Good for you.

wow active matinence it seems like if you wernt a grower it would be a nice place to live, i live in a shitty old house that has cracks in the plaster i can stick a lit ciggarette in. I would put a lock on my bedroom door and just say my girl is sleeping nacked in there and she gets real angry when woken up!

but do not forget about the sweet land lord hating smell of fresh ganja

Hey, thanks guys, Pine, I printed this thread so I could go by what you've written, you should do a "Soil Growing For Dummies" thread, lol.

kennkenniff: yeah, it's a nice place, just not grower friendly, can you believe that shit? lol

Growing in dirt is e.z. but I only threw out ideas that are not in F.A.Q..There is still all about venting and scrubbing and trouble shooting your grow.
If you need any specifics I can share what I have discovered with you.Just ask
Show us a pic of the bathroom hideout and you can get some help with the venting,

Hey Fataman! I use bonemeal as does vid, and pappy and pine boy, and many others. My mix is based on vids soil recipe. I cannot get hyponex here though so I use a promix without fertilizer added. That is the key. No fertilizer in the soil. Or you can use sunshine mix #4 available from most garden centers. Check out my indoor grow if interested, the link is in the sig.

And good for you!!!
