| | | Stealth Grow Questions
I was thinking about trying to grow because I have tons of bagseed saved up and am tired of paying for bud. Does anyone have plans or ideas for an enclosed system that is completely unnoticeable? I'm living at home with the parents while going to college and really want to try and grow before I get my own place later this year.
So, any suggestions on completely stealth grow systems? Yield isn't really important just don't want to get caught obviously.
I would probably be growing smaller plants that have shorter grow cycles and yields anyways.
Not only that but if the system could be as automated as possible obviously thats better...
I've seen the Rubbermaid box and that would be cool if i was out of the house but I havent seen anything that looks convincing enough to make me think I could grow in my own house (or at least in the garage).
I was also wondering how strong the smell of bud is when growing plants and if it can be easily masked.

If I were you dude I'd do one of two things:
1) Get my own place yesterday, if not before.
2) If you MUST wait due to circumstances, then wait. It's not fair for you to endanger your parent's freedom just because you cannot wait a bit longer. You've waited this long, a bit more won't be impossible.
As for a 100% totally stealth grow: ain't gonna happen. You will always have a bit of odor (flowering weed produces a very potent aroma), or a bit of fan noise, or a bit of pump (air and/or water) noise, or heat issues, or other things to deal with.
Try to think about what is right as well as what is good.

Good point with the parents getting in trouble thing. I prolly wouldn't grow it in their house but it might still be found which is why stealth is like what I'm really worried about

My other option is to ask my new neighbor if he smokes and if he does see if I can grow at his place... lol

Anywhere where the plants can get the most light for the longest part of the day.
If you have to place up against a wall place the plants on the north side.
They just need good sun coverage but very little to no people around to see them or steal them.

From what I've heard about Florida and its climate from people here and there they say the soil will need some amendment w/nitrogen. Potassium and phosphorus should be no problem (phosphates are mined in Florida). Trace minerals are no problem. Mild drought might be a problem in late spring. Heat may be a problem in mid summer. Real long growing season = bigger plants and more yeild. Bugs and pest could be a problem.
I don't mean to sound negative, I once saw a picture of a plant grown in Florida that was over 12 feet tall and at least 6 feet across. The dude standing in the picture (the same dude that showed me the picture) was just over 6 feet tall.
Of course security is an issue no matter where you grow outside.

I'm now set on outside and just germinated the seeds today. I plan to do two weeks under lights in a closet and then transplant outside.
So what all do I need to make sure I do when I transplant them outside? and is it ok to put plants outside half-way through february in Florida?

Ok, so now on top of planting some bagseed off in the woods, I'm thinking about buying some seed and using the rubbermaid stealth box to grow it...
I'm looking at Hashberry by Mandala Seeds, anyone try this before? Looks good because of the short height, resistance to heat and newbie messups, and quick grow time.... Mandala Hashberry
My question now lies in timing. Can anyone tell me how long i have to grow (and what height it should get to) for the vegetative and flowering cycle?
because I think I know all that but want to make sure I'm not being stupid and messing something up....
and when they say flowering time is that time till flowering starts or time till harvest?

You veg approximately half of the size you want when harvested. if you want a 4ft plant shoot for 18-24 inches. Some strains double in size some even triple. Flowering time is until its ready to be harvested, You dictate when to go into flowering (12/12) and the genetics of the plant determine how long its flowered (8-9 weeks) (along with growing conditions)

...and one more question before I head to sleep...
Can you grow plants from seed to harvest on CFLs? If not whats the best lighting option?
I'm worried about too many watts for the indoor grow because it's in an apartment and the electricity overages may be an issue as well as excess power usage being noticed by the apt complex over the 2-3 month grow... will this be an issue? or does a 400 watt light not draw enough energy to draw attention?
want to make sure I don't get it in the rear because I forget something...

Yes, you can grow from seed to harvest with cfls. Many do. Check "The CFL Club" forum. Also, check out the FAQ's. There is a wealth of info in the FAQ's. In addition, we have the "Classic Overgrow FAQ's.
Btw, Welcome to GP.

thx for the welcome... I've already read most of it but just want to hear it again from some people because I'm ripped when I'm on this page most of the time... so, ya know, could be making stuff up in the noggin up there...
but yeah, thanks everyone for all of your input....
all I'm wondering now is if anyone knows the power draw that CFLs are going to have when I adequately have enough to grow in a 2'x4' space... like, how many I should have, what wattage, and whether or not that'll put $1000 on my buddys next electrical bill.... anyone? (once again, prolly already read it somewhere but want to be sure)

and right now for lights I'm thinking 6 - 42w 6500k CFLs... Since I'm only growing 3/4 plants this time will this be sufficient lighting for all stages of growth?
arghh I hate having so many questions... I just want to make sure I don't set up my lights, start growing, and have it all die because I don't have enough lights...

6 42w should be fine for a CFL grow. the plants will stretch a little, but should grow fine. i believe you can get different growing bulbs for CFLS for the Veg/Flower life, check out the CFL club or FAQs for that. As for power, 6 cfls wont add much to a power bill, $10-15 a month tops. good luck!
*edit* - I also have a stealth grow in my house, I used a garage storage cabinet from Lowes. I was using 4 CFLs, but I switched over to 250w MH/HPS. Same setup, just more fans. Maybe you can get some ideas from what I did -> http://www.greenpassion.org/indoor-g...time-grow.html |

I love how everyone here is so helpful... Germinating ends tomorrow! I'm giddy like a school girl
