hello again everyone,
I am goning to try again...
first i built a grow room that is 12'x10'. i converted 4' off the inside wall for my veg room. i have two 4' t12 light ballist that hold 4 bulbs a peice, (is their any difference between sun bulbs and regular soft light bulbs other than the price?) that will be hung 18'' from the plant.
for my grow room i have two 400watt balliast, (i am thinking about having one MH bulb and one HPS bulb or should i stick with the same type of bulb during flowering)
the plants themselves will be housed in 10 five gallon buckets with a hydroponic setup. i have decided to go with airoponics, because i had a lot of the equipment already. this site has helped my more than any one else has. the links, videos, and guides that i have found are priceless.
and i wanted to say thankyou too all.
P.S. i will be getting a camra soon, and i will post some pic's. it will probaly be after the first of january.

Welcome back! As far as the flourescent tubes go, yes, it does matter what temperature range they are in. I recently added a set of T-8 flouros to my vegging area. You need to find tubes that are 6500k lumens for veg. I did not find them expensive at all. I got 4 of them for under 8 bucks I think. Not bad at all. It is the 6500k you need. Also, it has been discovered that you also need one tube in the flower range. I have not added this to my set up yet as I also have a flouro tube in the warm range and cfl's in this range as well. The range for flowering is 2400k and you can find these numbers usually on the tubes. If not on that then look where they are sold and see if they have it marked on the display. My tubes had it marked on the packaging. If you are unsure, then keep looking until you find some that you are sure of. They should be marked "daylight" I think. the flower range are soft white I think. Or warm white. I find they have a reddish cast to the flowering ones, and a blue cast to the veg ones.

get a hid light with a digital ballast so you can burn hps or metal halide in the same fixture. Hps for flowering.

Alright, the two HID lights that i have, used to be in a warehouse and came with Metal Halide bulbs, but will also operate Hps bulbs. The name on the side of the unit is lithum lighting, 120v, 60htz, 400watts.
I looked them up online and they are indoor light fixtures, are they still suffecunent for what i am going to be using them for?

The designation on the side of the rectangular housing may read MH HPS and MV (Metal Halide, High Pressure Sodium, and Mercury Vapor respectively) but that just means that the metal enclosure is rated and usable for those three types. This is a very common misconception with the uninitiated. Don't fret though, you have options. I'll get to that. Check the actual magnetic ballast that sits basically between the housing with the wiring connections and the shade/socket end. The label affixed there provides the actual information of what type of lamp will run off of your assembly. My gut tells me it is going to say MH/400 and some other numbers probably including M135/M155 or similar. I will be adding to this info at my availability, stay tuned. Also, if you have any other electrical questions I'm qualified and thoroughly willing to assist. I grow with 400's, and i'll tell you anything you would like to know. Let me know if my prediction seems accurate, and we can go from there.
