Default Question about finding strains

hello again, i just had a quick question. I've been wondering how i can find out what im growing? its been so long since i smoked the bud i got the seeds from that i don't even know how to go about describing it. Does anyone know any sites that have guides or anything like that to figure something like this out? I've been searching google for strain guides and have had no luck. anyone that can help i appreciate it.

Best suggestion I could make would be to go to one of the larger seed retailers (like Nirvana, etc.) and then start researching!

Might be best to just rename it, or call it "Mystery Bud"..

yea ive been looking at a bunch of places (trying to find the most variety). but most of the shots are either of a bud close up or just not something i can really compair it to i guess. mostly because the pictures are shot either post harvest or closer to ripeness than my own. maybe this lasagna will give me the strength to research more LOL. i guess i can always make my own name. maybe ill even have a poll for it!

I don't think it would be possible to accurately name a strain, by looking at it. Other than deciding whether it is sativa or indica dominant, by the leaf size/shape and inter-node distance, it would seem to me to be impossible.

yeah tryin to identify a strain just by looking at the plant with no idea of its origins is gonna be a crapshoot at best. you may get something similar, but with soooo many choices theres really no way to know. now some of the well known cuttings are semi identifiable by traits like leaf shape, plant growth, smell and also taste of finished product. that would be a much more effective way to figure out what you had, of course that would only help if it was something you were familiar enough with already to know what it tasted and smelled like and how it looked as it grew an matured.

now if it ends up bein a special girl, absolutely rename it and call it your own and keep her forever.
