Default Nutrients Needed?

So I have 2 plants just started and I am just using purified water for now. I will be using soil with nutrients in it already just wondering if I need to add nutrients to the water.

Expert Gardener, Perfect Mix All purpose potting soil, Feeds up to 9 months. I was thinking just have the Perlite and soil mixture and feed it with purified or distilled water, Im sure I would have to repot it with new soil for new nutrients.

hmmm... on the back of the bag (im guessing you bought it already?) what are the percentages of the ingredients?

sometimes those mixes are enough to feed some plants but mj needs different nutes at different times of its growth so one solid never changing set of nutrients might not cut it.

yea thats not really gonna be enough. thats the same amounts that are in a lot of potting mixes. mine i believe is the same or similar.

basically for the first few weeks you can give them nothing.

then i would give them some vegging nutes about once every 4 waterings at 1/4 strength then gradually up the dosage and feeding times as you see fit.
schultz makes a great liquid fertilizer for vegging it has an NPK content of 10-15-10. you can find it at most home depots and its really cheap.

And I go by the concentration directions on the package and divide it by 1/4th? About how long should I do this to them?

i waited at least 3 weeks from surfacing before giving them any kind of fertilizer. some people wait less time. they didn't seem to really need it that early so i held off like others told me and just went by what the plant was showing me.

and yes start off with 1/4 strength of the recommended amount on the product. then slowly work your way up.

I tried using the same soil on my very first (attempt)grow and ended up with 10 dead babies. I would recommend a plain soil for the first week or 2. I was always told to stay away from soil with nutes in them, more of a hassle then a help. I'm guessing my babies died cuz they were too young for nutes and it fried them. I then went to a soilless mix of perlite, vermiculite, and spagnium peat moss and all was well. Good Luck

Yea actually I planted my babies in the peat disc's that raise up when you add water to them to start them off there first stages. At about 3 weeks I am going to take the cloth sleave off around the peat and insert it into my soil mixture with perlite.
