i'm on hold till my grow media gets here :| ... hopefully when my new fans come in they will take care of this lil issue....i put a window ac unit in the office today, so the office is staying right at 70 now.....you are right about not investing in the first grow, I got a can of carb&choke cleaner invested that i traded the dude for a dime bag full of seeds....so $2 invested, possible 20-30 plants.....i think that was a good investment
edit: office 70 - grow closet 82 .... i'm ready for my fans to get here :|

Hey, that is the way to go for the first run threw my friend! You are one smart cookie! While you are waiting though, really do go through your phone book and look for salvage stores or such. You will be amazed what you can find in those places.
peace.

well an update....still waiting on fans, hydrotron, rockwool, net pots, and pH & TDS meters.....
heat is still an issue in my closet, so i decided today to build a humidifier, to hopefully help solve the problem....so today i ordered a ultrasonic fogger....so theres something else on the list to be waiting on.....
i just couldnt handle it anymore, i had to do something proactive...so today i grabbed some aqua rocks that were laying around from an old aquarium and took the 5 seeds i had been germing (bag seed), 1 of which had cracked and started to sprout, and through them into the rocks....just to see what would happen....
well maybe it was a big no no, but its not like its costing me anything, so what tha hell.....anybody ever had any luck growing in those rocks?

GO FOR IT! Or, you could go to the store and buy soom seed starter dirt, without any nutes in it, and try that. Just add lots of perlite to it. (40%)

Hey ace,
Glad you like the fan. Vibration can be minimized by using rubber grommets between any metal mounting points. The can be made from an old innertube. That should reduce the noise.

Now I am sure if you got them locked up in a small place with no ventilation they will fry but even my vegatable outside in the garden can take the heat if they are watered. So do the native countries of cannabis grow in the winter?

Madman what your talking about is around 0' longitude. The sun has more of the red light spectrum in those areas. Usually they would start 1 to 2 months before winter comes due to the light change with changing seasons to induce flowering. Winter has less light more darkness veg. is like 14 on 10 off with MH then flowering and budding would be 12 hours on 12 hours off with HPS bulb.
Pretty sure thats close to what ive read so far in other blogs and forums.
Hope that clears things up a bit. |

What is the humidity in your grow now? Usually we work to pull the water out of the air for pot growing. Unless you are living in a very dry arid area. If you have plants in there, and are growing in hydro, I do not think you will need a humidifior. You will have evaporation then. I could be wrong, someone correct me if I am missing something. Not so much for veg, which can be highest is 60% and okay is 50% humidity, for flower the optimum is 35%to 45% and is iffie higher, which I will be having probs with soon, and ISO fights all the time. Any higher and you could have problems with mold and bud rot. Just trying to correct this for you before you have a problem.

Ace, I don't know about that. I think several growers here with mold problems would challenge you on that. I know when my room starts getting too high, and I am talking 60% I worry. I will hunt around and see what I can find.

Hey ace,
35% is fine. This past winter, my area went through a range from 22% - 40%. I was happy with the results.

Thanks Pappy. Ace, I found one post on humidity in the Overgrow FAQ. Here is the link, growfaq
but it does not back up what I have learnt and been taught. I would go with what Pappy says. I just HOPE to ever know as much as he does. Just go with knowledge and experiance over anything you read anywhere and that will guide you well, my friend. PLUS I pretty much can guarentee once your cab is set up with plants and hydro you will have plenty of humidity.
One other thing. Really do a good read of Our own FAQ. There is a ton of info on soil and hydro and cabinets etc. Between the two, you cannot go wrong.

Okay Ace. I found this thread that shows how people battle humidity. Just read what happens in too high humid conditions. If it is low now, just hope it stays that way, my friend.
