Do you have an exhaust and intake for air? work on that and your heat issues will fall. I find cfl.s do run hot. You really have to exhaust the heat.

You have 6 fixtures there conected to the wood and Y connectors. That doubles your light. IF you need to at a future time you could add to each of thos Y's with another Y and again double your lights. BUT make sure first your wiring and outlet will take that many watts of light. Better to be safe than have a fire. And remember the heat issue. Until you get that down, would not put plants in there. Plus for just seedlings, you might bake them at first in there. Try just half to start them, and gradually add the lights. Plus start at a distance, don't put babies too close or they will burn. Watch the plants, they will tell you what they need. If they stretch, too far from the lights, if they burn, or bleach out, too close. If your hand feels hot where you want to put your plants, then your babies will too. If it is comfortable, then it is fine.
And make sure you have a small fan blowing on them, but not blowing them out of the dirt. Just gentle, It strengthens the stems. You get stronger babies.
Peace.

BTW, cheap fans can be best found at thrift stores (like Goodwill, etc.). Take the time and drive to a few...you never know what you'll find that will be helpful.
Lastg week I stopped at a new thrift store in the town about 40 miles away from home...found a Chrome, 6 lamp, brand new vanity light bar for $3.99. Adding "Y" fittings this critter can hold 12 CFL's and do a great job.

You defininitely have problems.
My sugesstion would be to shade your shed and run one of those soaker hoses on the outside of the shed (roof and edges) for evaporative cooling.
*note humidity holds heat, it is easier to cool a dry heat than a wet heat

Do you have a fan for the exhaust yet? It looks a good size. I bet if you went to wallyworld and got a small fan (there they are probably like 6 bucks, it cost me in Canada 9.99) Or home depot. And use one of those for the exhaust and one inside, either hanging to move the air or a computor little fan.

It looks really good. Good job. Very good job!!!

You want them to bake AFTER you harvest them, not now!!!!! Do you have the fan blowing on the babies? that will help. Think of it this way, air will not allow a vacuum, so if the temps are cooler outside the grow than inside, exhausting that hot air out the top makes a vacuum and the cool air will push the hot air up and out. Have you tried it just passive or only with the fan in there for cool air? From what I have seen and read, passive cool air exhaust will move more air than a fan, and a fan could even slow it down. Just my humble opinion.
You have done just a wonderful job! I am so glad you are here. Good on you!!!!

TOT,
I think what Jangel is saying is that mid-80's temps on an on-going basis are too high for the plants, as a rule. Can they handle it? Yes, but they won't be at their best.
Try and shoot for high 70's (77-80) and maintain that during the lights-on periods, with about 10 degrees (or more) below that when lights are off.
My plants generally run in the 78-82 range in flower...doesn't seem to have harmed them, but also means I can't get the lights as close as I might want to.

ISO | Thanks ISO! what he said! LOL! That is why I ended up getting my t-5 flourescents as it was just too hard without major probs to get the temps down in there. But you have a backup plan with adding air in the room. That will work especially with a passive air vent. You are thinking ahead!
Plus how many seeds are you starting? You will not need all the lights on with a few new seedlings. As your fans arrive and you deal with the heat, you can add lights. If you have 6 seeds starting, all you need for the first wee bit is a couple of lights, which you have optimum temps at. I found with my closet grow, it evolved as you learned and dealt with problems as they came up. That is why it is good to start with just bagseed so the first go through and perfecting the system are with plants that don't cost your first born.
You are doing wonderfully getting these things ironed out before putting babies in there.
Good job.
