I will be growing indoors and have very limited space. What type of seed and setup do you recommend? | | The Following User Says Thank You to greenthumb For This Useful Post: | |

Hi greenthumb, how are you. Everything depends on how limited that space is going to be like? I think what would be the best for a small closet grow is Cfl light + SCRoG + indica strain. Could you write something more about the size of that space, please?

when I say limited raf33, I mean limited! Just measured the space. 4ft X 2ft and only 2ft high. Is it even possible to grow there?

That sounds like cfl territory with the height limitations. Maybe even led?
But I bet you could do it with a sog. Just cram as many plants in as possible. |

2' high is shorter then any of my experience can help with. Not saying it can't be done by any means but it doesn't sound like an easy task. Definitely scrog or heavy LST territory. I would think florescents would be the way to go but i would think tubes would be better then CFL's. Perhaps T5's or better.

Still, you might consider LEDs as you can put the plants almost right on them. I have seen a couple of LED grows I was impressed with. (For LEDs anyway. :D)

I don't have anything at this point, p@ssw0rd. Just getting educated as to what I need and how to set it up. If it is even possible to grow it in this space.
I would grow outside but being in MN I don't think it would work to well.
By the why, I am not a bro :0)

youd be surprised what you can pull off outside, hell people grow outdoors in canada, so why not you. indoors isnt my specialty but i think leds would be best but they are expensive so probably cfl < compact flouresent>

The actual led grow lights they sell that I have seen are WAY too expensive. If I were going to do LEDs, I would build the lights myself. That would cut the costs down. You can get DC converters to power the lights for $15 and then some breadboards and bulk leds. You could probably get it done for a couple hundred $$..
Though flourescent lights would still likely be cheaper.

Yeh, maybe I'll try outside Mr.Moonbiscuit. Too late this year, I suppose. Although it is still very cool here for May.
How long before they can be placed outside? And what kind of lighting till they do?
Sorry if these seem like dumb questions but I really don't know much at all. That is why I am here. To learn from the masters!
Thanks again for your knowledge!

A T5 fixture - say, 4-foot, 4-6 bulb - would take up the whole ceiling area while only using about 2.5-5.5 inches of vertical space, but if you figure that, plus a few inches for pots, you're down to ~12 inches of plant height - outside may be a better route, depending upon your circumstances.
You can also DIY a compact, stealthy grow cab to suit whatever dimensions you have - Rubbermaid containers or storage closets from Goodwill are a couple of common, effective choices.
