Default info for the totally new to MJ grower please help

Some of the members on GP are medical users that are totally new to mj...with those people in mind...as well as the new grower who feels overwhelmed by all the great info and choices....I will be putting together a thread that takes some of the choice out of it and is more of a strait forward plan using GP post and threads already available...

The grow to havest plans will be a mazar cfl grow using vid's organic soil recipie....

What posts, threads, and stickies do you think have the most basic and helpful info to incorporate into this planned thread. also the most relevant grow journals

this is the outline of the thread at this stage

"
For The Rank Begginer - One First Easy Grow – The GP way

Growers make hundreds of choices in practicing their craft…but sometimes as a beginner, you just want some plain solid advise about a quick easy cheap way to succeed with a small personal grow…if you are feeling overwhellemed by all the choices this post may be for you. It is far from the only way to do it, but it should reward you with as good or better MJ than you might have thought possible
  • First the Strain….
Yes there are many to choose from….but I will suggest feminized mazar seeds…it is a short stout indica type plant…it is easy to grow…and produces a world class high…and every plant should yield great seedless buds for smoking, vaping, or consuming orally
Here are threads on your first stain Mazar
  • Now the growing Medium and Nutrients.
This is a soiless growing medium that is tried and true…it also has the nutrients built in to make life easier (and they are organic)
  • Next the Lights
There are many great choices and they all have their advantages and disadvantages…but I am going to suggest Compact Flourescent Lights.
  • Next the Circulation and Ventalation of Air, Odor control, as well as temperature and humidity requirements
  • Next the grow pots
  • And the grow space
  • And Sprouting
  • And the grow cycle
  • How and When to Water
  • And the harvest and Cure
  • And how will you ingest?

This is just one group of choices, there are hundreds of other choices that may result in as good or even better grow….again this is just for the new grower who wants to avoid feeling overwhelmed and just get to it….and of course as a GP member there will be plenty of kind support to help you along the way….Best Wishes On Your First Grow"

don't be shy I would love your suggestions of what GP posts to choose, but don't feel like you have to, only if you think hey this is simple and clear and perfect for a new grower
so far we are going with vids soil

I dont suggest throwing a fem seed at a first time grower, he or she wouldnt know what to do when the crop becomes seeded. Let him or her go with a regular seed that he or she might find interesting, yet hardy and easy to grow (NL-#5 is one of the best first time strains). Organic is prone to problems like bugs, disease, mold, while a regular fert or nute just leaves burn problems. Organic is much better for those who have the allergen problems, or smaller boutique/'prize' plants.

Back to the purpose of this thread: To help new growers find the info they need right off the hop.

As we hope to sticky this thread, all things off topic will be removed at a later date.

Scott, Here is justanotherbozo's thread on cloning. He did volumes of research on this and it is all included as well as how to make a cheap Do it Yourself Cloner.

Click here for all the info: Justanotherbozo's DIY Cloner.

And you can live in fear, or live a normal life. It is up to you.

Peace

FYI:

I started a new thread in LEO, and moved all the related posts on "New Grower Security" to that thread:

http://www.greenpassion.org/f38/new-...d-thread-6982/

Please feel free to continue the discussion on security issues there. Hijacking a thread is capital offense...

Default New Grower

Hey guys,
I can,t offer much in terms of experience, however, as a new grower, I can offer insight as to the info that i was confused about.

Lights- I really had a hard time deciding which way to go. HID or fluorences. I finally went with T5s. A chart or list of light options with corresponding circumstances would be helpful.

Medium- Dirt or Hydro. I went with dirt using Vid's recipe. A chart or list of pro and cons would be helpful.

Nutes- This gives me the most concern. Since Vid's recipe is basically organic, this helps tremendously, however, a list of nutes and additives with a description of what each does and when to use them would be invaluable.

Problems - a list of possible symptoms and the cures for plant problems.

Grow cycle - A description of what to expect in the maturation of the plants. This covers veg, sexing, flowering, and when to harvest.

Last but not least - a list of procedures of what to do with your harvest if you followed the above and didn't kill them.

Okay Scott, i give it a try as well

First step - ask yourself if you want to grow with all that comes along. Growing is risky business!

-then decide where to grow (indoors or outdoors)

-if you know if you go in- or outdoors start looking for a spot

from now on i go indoors as we have fall/winter now (sorry to all on the southern half)

-think if you need to take care of light emission, odor or noise (fans produce noise) and if so how to take care of it (>>see FAQ for this)

-how much space do you have?

-what strain would fit in there (as you never grown before you should rather try a indica or indica heavy mixed strain for this)

-what type of lights (must be maintainable in the grow room and put out enough light [HPS or CFL/floro]) and don't buy a LED lights and then come crying to us!

-soil, pot, fertilizer and pH pen or paper strips

- finish the walls with either panda foil or simple and cheap flat white paint

-get the electrics set up (maybe ask a professional to do it for you)

everything do and set to start growing?

-time to buy some seeds

-check the FAQ once more for sprucing seeds

grow happily from now on

************************************************** ***

in general i would want to keep it step by step in order from mental preparation, to planing, to shopping, to setup of the actual room and ending in sprucing the seeds. i would go further as by then you completely back in the containts of FAQs and this information is better served thru the FAQs.

thank you sooooooo much every one! for the new grower it is tricky how much choice they may want and how much info is helpful....I want to know as much a possible....but I think I will gear this down to no choices, but explain briefly about other options. This is gonna be for the totally new person that doesn't know how much they are going to relish their options in the future..

Greens way of thinking is a sort of decision tree...which is very helpful way of helping someone decide what to do....again though this will be mostly for someone that wants to be told what to do (at least the first time)

I will repost the thread as it develops and again appreciate very much everyone's input on this..your time and thoughts are priceless

I may have missed it entirely, but a pretty big issue for the first time grower would likely be sexing the plant. I mean, if they don't know about the hairs, they cold be waiting a long time only for their buds to burst open and pollenate the floor
