Default If it says grow light is it?

I'm getting ready for my first build/closet grow. I was looking for materials today and found a light and fixture that says it is an under counter grow light. I can't find anything on the package that gives lumens or color spectrum. So is a grow light a grow light? I was under the impression that they were very pricey but I found this one for under $10 for fixture and bulb. Is it too good to be true?

Too good to be true. Most lights marketed as grow lights aren't worth their price, if they're good enough to meet marijuana's needs at all.

Wal-mart sells a "grow light" for 9.99, but it won't grow you any Mary Jane. Not enough lumens.

Generally, anything marketed as a grow light is a gimmick and either it's not going to be even close to good enough or it's not going to be any better than a flourescent or CFL but it will cost much more because of it's special marketing.

It Would Be A Grow Light, But What Kind Of Results You Would Get Is The $$$$???,,You Get What You Pay For,, There Are Many Inexpensive CFL's That You Could Get That Would Work Fine, To A Degree...If You Are Looking To Really Produce You Would Need To Get A HID MH Or HPS, But There Are Many Grows That You Can Check Out That Are Just With CFL's http://www.greenpassion.org/f22/ , And If You Want To see Some HID Go Here http://www.greenpassion.org/f23/ , And For LED's Go To http://www.greenpassion.org/f75/ , Hope That Will Shed Some Light For Ya,,HEHEHE

Thanks so much for the advice. I knew it was too good to be true I think I have decided to go with the cfl's in clamp reflectors. Do you think four 90 watt indoor cfl floodlights would work for a closet that is about 10' sq? The one I was looking at did not specify lumens but it did say something about a "Color Rendering Index" of 62? I'm hoping that there is more information on the package when I get there. Don't you wish you could just walk into Lowe's or Home Depot and just say "Hey, what do I need to start growing Weed in my closet?" Then again, I guess that's what all of you are here for. Wish me the best and say a prayer for my husband. I stopped buying so I have money for growing. Poor guy has no idea what he's in for. This is the first I've stopped in over two years. I don't think he remembers why he was ok with me smoking in the first place. He'll remember soon. LOL

Again, thanks for all the advice. I don't know what I would do without Green Passion!

I Wouldn't Get A FloodLight, You Need To Look For Some CFL's (compact florescent light) In The Kelvin Range Of 2700K. For Flowering To 6700K. For Vegging, In A Wattage Range From 26W. To 100w. , Any Thing In This Range Will Work Best For You.

You can get T-5 flourescents and use them that way and you can get some nice sets. It is all in the type of bulb you use so if you get the right one, you are golden. And you can order t-5 the right specs from any where for growing. And a t-5 flourescent is a t-5, it will work for growing as well as light. Just order the right spectrum tubes for it and go.
I have a set of T-5's and they are great. attach those under a cupboard, and any t-5 set will do, and veg away. I would flower under hps though

Peace
