Check your heat levels in your flower area. Usually if it is hot you will get airier buds.

Keep temps and humidity in ideal range, make sure they are getting enough P/K (bat guano if you are organic) and molasses. Ensure light levels are high enough, and the plants have enough Co2 (either good fresh air exchange through intake/exhaust fans, or augmented CO2)

I recently heard from a friend that using HPS lighting makes a huge difference over florescent. Would you guys agree with that? I am using florescent but would like the chunkier denser buds. I have started a new grow and am going with my philosophy which is little is better! I have in the past had a tenancy to over water and over nute. Things are going fine for now. Here are a few pics of my babies...

I got these seeds from here:
Blue Mystic Marijuana Seeds

I killed a bunch of them, but am doing pretty well with these. I am almost positive that they are girls (fingers crossed!), I will test them next week.

Of course! Using a bigger HID light has a deeper penetraton into the plants and is closer to what the sun does. Floro's will never do what HID lights can. At least not so far. I use floros for veg, but a HID for flowering. It makes a huge difference.

How do you test that they are females? I usually start the seedlings under florecents and finish them off under 1000 watt grow lighting.

in the fall here in Northern Maine indoor growers often remark that there buds get denser when the weather starts to cool and their bud rooms are cooler.

I believe it's genetics, nutrients, air, good vibes etc and good LIGHTS. I'm fortunate that my bud room temp range is 70/50 and that does help I believe.

That's very interesting Johnny! I wonder if the cooler temperature makes the plant want to bud faster and thicker because if feels like fall is upon it. I think I need to invest in a good light too though.

I believe that the cooler temp does trigger the plant to move along. As for lighting most electrical suppliers do carry all the different kinds of lights.Tell them you want to grow tomatoes all year long.

And they are cheaper than hydro stores too! Just make sure you get the right bulbs for them.

Flowering is triggered by the light cycle alone.

Along with that light cycle cooler temps help them along. In my opinion.

1000w. HPS Eye Hortilux Super EN, Duct & Vented Hood, Low Temp's And All The Lum's You Can Throw At Them Is What Makes Big Dense Hard As A Rock Buds. Aeroponics Systems Will Also Help, But With Skill's They Can Be Grow In Any System, But The Main Key Is All The Lum's You Can Produce The Better.

I agree that the more light the better. Also agree that flouro's don't produce nearly the density that HPS does, I use both though. I have a 150 watt HPS that I supplement with flouro's and it seems to be working out better than just flouro's alone. I also use a product called gravity from a company called humboldt county's own, its a flower hardener, but from what I gather its basically the same as molasses. wish I would have known that before I spent thirty bucks on an 8 oz bottle of the stuff but it does work. I have noticed denser harder buds since using it the last time, the time before that the buds were airy and fluffy, not what I wanted.
