I guess you could attempt it at any stage. Your level of success depends on how far along you are. Shorter better, longer possible.

I have taken them in my first grow at 4-5 weeks and they made it. It took awhile for them to root and then re veg but I have them now. The reason I took them so far along was the first attempt at cloning just prior to flower failed and I wanted to keep the strain. How far along are your plants? I used Rapid Rooters they work very good.

I am just over 4 weeks in and I have clones of all but one strain. The afghan clones had to go in the battle with spider mites. I guess I'll take some clones and see how they do.

Take your cuts low down where there is little bud growth and cut the bud off or it will rot and cause trouble. Take a few cuts you might loose 25% so take 4 and end up with at least 3. Mine took 3 weeks to root but finally did and then the first new leaves were weird looking. After that the next set were normal re vegged.
