Has anyone built a underground grow room? I want to build a room off of my basement about 10feet away from main house completely underground and use a tunnel attached to basement with hidden door. I have access to all equipment needed and able to do construction myself. Other than being able to tell how deep i can go I want to have 10foot high ceiling and 5foot of soil on top. I don't know if water will be an issue and don't know how to determine this. If anyone has info or knows where i can get info please help.

that sounds like a mighty task but could possibly work out...you are going to need to figure out some type of air circulation and ventilation system. if you can get that figured out i dont see why you could not make it happen. Were you planning on lining the walls and constructing an actual room? I would also beware of humidity.

It's actually going to be 3 rooms a veg room a flowering room and a prep/cure room. Everything is going to be lined with some kind of reflective materiel except for prep room. The ventilation will exit in a heated garage and come in from a shed using heater duct work and a large blower. It will have a cement floor cement block walls and a cement roof.

i have seen some huge underground grows 2000+ plants but it is a lot harder than you think and there is alot that goes into digging out a tunnel especially with the threat of a cave in and hopefully there are no underground pipes in the area . also
heat, water, and humidity will probably make caveins a deffinate problem unless you have tunnel digging experiance it sounds dangerous but would be interesting to see how you do it just be carefull we like to keep our members around here lol.

It's not actually going to be a tunnel more like a basement cement block walls and cement floor and ceiling it will all be dug up built and buried kind of like a bomb shelter of sorts. An extra remote basement. I have the ground marked for underground pipes and electric wires when i dug a trench to bury a new water line last year and where it will be is clear.

I would for sure get somebody in the know on how to make it structurally sound. 5 feet of dirt is a good bit of weight. The structure that you make to pour the roof into or on would seem to be an important part of the puzzle, along with the pillars that support it and the footing that was dug to support the pillar. Just some random thought keep us up to date on the build.

Thats a bunch of work...forms, rebar, block, and concrete. I think concrete has broke the $200 a yard barrier around here. Can't say I haven't thought about it...just don't think its worth the effort or cost.
Peace. Quote:

All I'm doing is thinking about it. The biggest thing is concrete. Where I live i don't need a permit and nobody will ask any questions and i have the equipment to dig and employees to build but have never took on a project like this before. The cost of cement i would be better off buying stock in the company supplying the cement lol.
