Rep Power: 29 | | CFL wiring~EUROPEAN WIRING QUESTION! HELP!
I, i have a 125w envirolite and i read this fórum thread ( here) and since there's almost no forums talking bout it, i was wondering if i really need to make this? ( connect the 125w envirolite with a cable that has a 3A fuse...) thanks alot.
PS: dunno if it has to do with the country (im from Portugal).

Our electricity is a different voltage than yours is. I will head some one over here that could advise you better than I ever could. If that is using the same type of current then I would do what it says. Do not mess with things if you are not sure. It could burn down your house... Better to be safe than sorry... DO NOT TAKE UNNESSACARY CHANCES WITH ELECTICITY. EVER!!! AND IF SOMETHING IS SAID TO BE NEEDED THEN USE IT. WISER HEADS THAN OURS HAVE BEEN THERE. AND THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING.... |

Hello terramoto, how are you. it depends on the type of plug you have - if you have two bolts coming out of the plug (like that Universal Travel Adapter With CE Certified - EU (E4U-017) (Start From 30 units) - US$ 1.28 ) than you have an euro plug and it is not grounded. in UK you have plugs like that one ( Universal Travel Adapter With CE Certified - UK (E4U-019) (Start From 30 units) - US$ 1.28 ) and they are grounded with different fuses depending on wire you use.
if you live in Portugal and got 125w envirolight you really don't have to worry too much about how and if your plug is fused. you can use that bulb the same way you use 100w bulb in your living room. I used 600HPS on european plug without any grounding and there was no problem. I don't know about Portugal but in most european countries you have one main fuse for the whole electrical sftuff in your house so when single thing breaks everything stops working.in UK and Ireland they have seperate fuses for every single piece of stuff so when it breaks the rest still works.

all the best and good luck with your grow. (do you know you can also buy red light for flowering from envirolight?)

thats the one i have, someone told me i should bought these first (because i dont have much $$ to spend), ill use this one for veg and flo while i make some $$ to buy a veg env or those normal cfl bulbs, because ill use veg only on mother and flower on clones.(SOG) Btw does it matter which cable connects to which side of the socket?
I have a reflector with a black and white cable, and a PC cable with green/yellow, brown and blue cables. Edit:
I was wondering if i could use silica instead of carbon to filter the smell...

Hi Terra,
Sorry, Jangel asked me to help you as I am currently in Portugal but like always I was late, LOL! black and white cable, and a PC cable with green/yellow, brown and blue cables
It does not matter which color cable you connect to which side of the sockect as far as you DO NOT connect them together. White is used in UK for N and black for L, in the rest of the EU blue (N) and brown or black (L), and green-yellow for ground I was wondering if i could use silica instead of carbon to filter the smell...
I have always used Carbon to kill the smell, I didn´t know silica was of any good like this. You can try but if you are tight in the money it is better to go straight to what it is going to work 100% than trying to find alternative (even if they look cheaper)
I would advice you that there is a place named La Loja De Maria, which has several locations, one of them in Lisbon, and they can help you with the Carbon, you can also buy it at Jumbo in the pet/aquarium section (but it is more expensive)
Please, do not hesitate to contact us if you have concerns or questions in your grow, we are all happy to be able to help others as we have been helped in the past
Peace

Better late then never. :p
About the silica i dunno if it works, but since my cat (who's piss smells awful) use it i though i could use it too. For what i've read i just need to connect the blue and the brown one to the socket.
thanks alot!!

That is correct, just connect the blue and brown and it will light on!
About the Silica, be careful as I also thought it could work, but when I touched it with my hands I noticed how dry my hands got and small sillica particles (dust) can fly all around the room and you will need your plants to seggregate oil, and that silica is good for cat´s pi but I would not try it near my plants. By the way, those 5kg sacks costs about 5 to 10 euros each, the same that the carbon will cost you and you will fly in the right direction
Peace

as 4ever said don't connect green one cos it's for grounding, the rest doesn't really make any difference,go black/brown and white/blue.I use dehumidifier for smell but it's a costly option due to electricity useage(something like 2000W).I run it for an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening, works great for me.kills both, humidity and smell.
..and the place...well...it's simply the best.no doubts
all the best
and about that light you have.it's a cool stuff,I went the whole grow on a similar one,200W, and it gave a decent yield.

Thank you J-Angel I had similar problems when I moved to UK.we lived in old victorian house with dated wirring. it was a bit scarry to me at first to run any kind of heavy duty house stuff like iron or washing machine cos fuses were breaking like pop corn, especially when it rained I had to learn quickly few bits about electricity and fuses heh,and then came a moment when I run my european balast without grounding wire and it took me a few sleepless nights to trust it
I started paying more interest to things that I would normally take for granted, like condition of wiring when you rent a house.it became almost an obssesion and I thought your letter early in the spring about checking wires was a great idea.there are many good things coming out of our passion and it pushes our lazy bones to explore good stuff

Hmm, then carbon it will be... i connected 2 tubes to the fans that pushes the air outside the cabinet leading it inside the box that's on the top of the cabinet (which will be full of carbon) with a fan to push the air out of the box. I have 3 fans out e 2 in should it be different? For 4 clones that will start on flowering i think its enough no?
About the ferts, the only thing i could find here was the seaweed, all those bone meal, blood meal, etc...dont really know where to find it.

Hi Terra, I have 3 fans out e 2 in should it be different?
This will depend on the capacity of each fan, but at least you should equal the cappacity of your ins and outs (it is recommended double out than in)
Now, about the ferts, please check with this store (A Loja da Maria) they are in Lisbon, their info is as follow: Loja : Lisboa Rua Marcos de Portugal, 65 1200-257, Lisboa Tel: 21 390 4391 Email: lisboa@alojadamaria.com
You can also buy some good ferts in Leroy Merlin (garden department) and you can also check the Aki´s garden departments (not a large selection here). They all have good staff but I trust more the Leroy
One more thing, what is your medium, are you using expanded clay pellets (hydroton or similar)? Because I see you are looking for some ferts that are generally used for soil, and if that is your case soil and flood and drain systems are not good friends
Peace

all the best Lads | Same here, I was sooooo afraid to connect anything, most of my house equipments are from USA and I had to put transformers all around the house. It was very ugly, cables all around the corners and plus the added fear to wake in the middle of the night with fires in the house!!! What I did was to start from 0, I asked an electrician to bring into the house an independent cable ONLY for the grow. And I work out of there, I can sleep now
Peace

im going to grow on soil, im going to use a pump with a timer to water the plants. I think ill pay less from Spain then from Lisbon, Since im at Algarve and they tend to make the shipping the same price has de product. Like if biobizz is 15€ it will cost me 30€ or 25€.
Thats why i was trying to make it with Natural items, like seaweed :p

Hi Terra,
If you need help in getting any product I can help you. I also know a guy in Barcelona who has a grow store, and he does not charge you for shipping if the order is over 100 euros. And the good thing with this store is that I made him accept Paypal (you can open a paypal account with any family address in US and wire Paypal the needed money) and he will dispatch the items with a trusted courier and you can pick up the order in the courier office, not in your grow place or your home (added security)
Peace
