Got a new PC with Windows 7 (ultimate if it matters, 64 bit if it matters). I also use a proxy which seems to loose any formatting, making everything one paragraph. I can live with the proxy issues, but after I log on when using the computer with Windows 7, I get thrown back to the home page and am not logged on anymore. I also can't log on to the proxy site with Windows 7. Not your problem I know, but thought the knowledge may be of use. THANKS GUYS, Tex

Rep Power: 35 | | Also using IE
I editted the above post but it wouldn't save, possibly my inexperience. Here's the editted part: Oh, I'm using IE 8 also. Tried running that in compatibility mode, but it didn't help any. Hmmm...perhaps I can run Win7 in compatibility mode before launching IE? I don't know if that will work, but will fool around a bit with it when I get a chance... THANKS GUYS, Tex

a good amount of proxy servers will not work here due to spam/hacks/abuse.
I'd try it without using a proxy and see what happens..
you could always try firefox or opera web browsers too

Thanks for the help, gang. I've been using the proxy for several months. I'm using it now, on another computer with XP, otherwise everything's the same. I can't log onto the proxy site with Win7 either, I have to use their free service, which may be the problem. I see others are using Win7, so that may not be the problem. I tried running Win7 in compatibility mode, but it didn't make any difference. I don't think it's IE as I'm using it now. As usual, I'm thoroughly confused. For now I'll just read. I may go to the Windows forrums. Peace, Tex

There are several proxy blocks/restrictions on GP - Try it WITHOUT using a proxy server and see what happens

I've installed Google Chrome and it works. I don't know what the problem with IE is, HP help wasn't any. I think freetolive hit the nail on the head, but couldn't get it to work. THANKS again for the help gang.
Peace,
Tex

Perhaps you were blocking scripts and/or cookies. I think either would cause your log on to fail.

Then LEO knocks on your door.
By using a proxy, my address is sent with my communications to the proxy, but my address coming out of the proxy and to GP is different. It makes it harder for LEO to track you down. There are also other types of proxies. Quote:

HP said IE8 is so loaded down with security features it's difficult to know which is causing the problem. It must be a Win7/IE8 issue, as WinXP and IE8 work OK, although I had formatting problems using it. Google Chrome crashes at some sites, so it looks like I'll be using IE8 at some and Chrome at others for now. :P
Peace,
Tex
