so ive never grown before and i have my card, i was thinking that i could buy a clone from one of my clubs and set it up in a grow box you know like one maybe two plants just for my own personal use...

i need it to be as small, cost efficient, grow efficient, low maitenance, safe, and camoflauged as possible

you mentioned a card - so am i correct that you one of the few and more or less lucky to gained the right to medicate legally?
If so you can normally head to you next compassion club to gain some seeds - i would never ever start a grow of clones, the chance to get bugs into your grow is far to great to risk it. So if you not sure that these are from a super clean growroom don't spend a dime on these.

seeds are always the way to go of the patient - sure, you don't know the sex and 50% will be male but a male will give you pollen and you can grow yourself more seeds that way too.

for a little grow start searching for a good spot - either you know one in your home to grow indoors or you know one in the woods, but don't grow in a small local public park
if you got little space indoors but not enough to grow there you can start your plants indoor and clone them to madness and then move them outdoors after a month or two - plenty of growers go with that tactic and do more then fine.

so if you got no opportunity to get seeds from your club go over to nirvana - watch out that you got a strain that is easy - if you need a good indica buy some afghan, strong easy and great smoke. if you looking for something less potent check skunk#1 or northern light#1 - both easy to grow too.

and start on soil please, it is cheaper to buy the basics for that and it is a bit easier to grow on soil too. and buy yourself a good pH meter as from Hanna or similar brand - simple hanna meters start at only $20 so it isn't too big money. just watch out that you buy some buffer liquid along to calibrate your meter frequently enough!! that stuff doesn't cost too much but is worth ever nickel you spend!

to get start you need:
-seeds
-ph meter
- a cheap dome
-peat soil with NO TIMERELEASED FERTILIZER to it!
-some perlite or similar
-jiffy tabs, that are peat soil tabs that swell if placed in water
-pots in different sizes (look in the trash of a garden center or a landscaper if you don't want to buy those)
-CFL or tubes in about 6500K range - about cool white, most manufactures list the light temp of their products only on their homepage and not the packing, so do some research first
-if possible a HPS for flower (don't buy anything smaller then 400W or you wasting hydro money! besides that the step from 50-250W to 400W is quiet little and with the first spare bulb you are already on the winning side with a 400W before even firing it up. and as you grow confined look at some air-cooled reflectors.)
-flat white paint or panda film pvc foil - if you can go with the paint do it
-fertilizer
-some vinegar and baking soda as ph down and up (you can use tab water as pH up too if your volume isn't too big)

personally imo..starting from clone is much better then seed....i agree that clones can carry disease an pests but a simple cleaning an spray will remove most of the pests if not all.....also starting from clone quanteee's a female an if it is a well sold clone no herm as well...also there are many strains that are great for the med patient but are only in clone form....imo i suggest buying a 250hps a couple clones a 2lx2wx5h some 2-3 gal grow bags an some perlite to fill bags...basic nute regi imo ff is ez....other then that read read read read..ask aska aks ask..peace az

but if you got both sexes you can start growing our own perfect strain in a few years - if you look at a 4 month cycles you could end up with our own perfect strain in about 3-4 year, and that is a big plus to me in a medical grow 2stoned

i hear ya brother nobody...as long as he started with top notch genitics like what someone would pay for some seeds over seeds are even in country....an as long as he/she can learn to grow clone an stablize a perputal setup small style he could be harvesting the same bud over an over an over every month..an to me for older or real sick med patients..i would like to make things as easy as possible...there may be timew when they wont be able to grow seed grows but someone could always keep a mom stablized for long periods of time....peace az
