hello everyone, new to this forum, seems to be some really intelligent people, so im looking for some feedback, any and all is welcome and much appreciated.
-This is my first outdoor grow
-Growing Purple Kush
growing in sacramento, ca (northern cali)
-I got it as a clone from a buddy who grows near the mountains yearly when it was in the black pot, the pic titled 1. then took me a couple weeks to get the supplies to put it in the ground (lol i know long time, but im a new dad and am very busy)
-pics 2 and 3 were taking probably a week later
-pics 4 and of all the leaves were taken today, probably a week after pics 2 and 3
-so it has been in the ground since probably second week of June.
-It's in 2 and a half bags of ocean frost fox farm potting soil
-I test the ph of the water every time i water it...i balance it to about 6.0 ( i hear thats a good ph, and balancing the ph of the water is the easiest and best way to balance the ph of your soil...ph balanced water=ph balanced soil)
-last week i sprayed on about half a gallon of worm juice!!! GREAT WORM JUICE! we don't put any cardboard, paper, or sawd in our scraps so thats why there is leachate, im thinking about starting another one where i will add those things and i hear you won't get juice, but i like having juice, its instant food for the plant, but both would be good. I sprayed it on with a pump pressured type of sprayer i got at my local hardware store, ones that are commonly used for applying your pesticide. i sprayed 90% of the 1 gallon onto the top layer of soil, then added about 3" more of soil, it was that extra half a bag, and then sprayed a very thin layer of the other 10% on top of that...watered with about 4 gallons of water...
I just purchased from
Neptune's Harvest All Natural Organic Fertilizer a bunch of their products, should be here by next week. I got the garlic barrier, fish/sea fertilizer mix, hot pepper wax, and the crab mixture, i also have left over from last hydro grow some fox farm fertilizer, will probably be using that too, but going to be careful not to burn the plants w/ too much nutrients
I gots LOTS of questions

so here they go....
First why are the stems purple...my father in law is growing the same plant, we both got a clone from our buddy. his stems are not purple like mine. and you can see that the whole stem is not purple. just the top. and its on 90% of the plant. its like actually a cut out little sliver in the top of the stems, you can feel the ridge, its not round like it would otherwise be. and it only goes right into the center of the leaf. some of the stems the purple goes all the way from the leaf down to the main base stock, and some only about half way down the stem. TRUST me its not too cold, so thats not why its purple...and its not being underwatered... i give this girl lots of water, especially right now, i just transplanted it, it needs it to make the roots content for changing homes

. but there could be the possibility of root rot, never had it before, but heard of it, and hear its from over watering.
any second i need some help figuring out how i should apply my next set of worm juice, i will be adding those products and some will throw off the ph (garlic spray, hot pepper wax, other nutrients). i know obviously they will have their directions, but there are often times better, more creative ways of doing so. i like the way i added the worm juice this time, but i could see me diluting it into the 2-4 gallons that i water it and thats it. but i feel like i drenched the soil in a good concentrated mix that probably saturated the whole 4-6 inches of soil, and then when i added the water, the plant started soaking it all up just the same if not better. but maybe im wrong. The ph balancer i have now says something on the back like don't use to balance anything besides the hydroponic water... so im not exactly sure what they mean by this. i mean i used to add the nutrients into my water reservoir and then test the ph and balance it with the ph balancer, and it worked great...but im assuming they mean don't use it to balance out the ph when other products are added to the water, not sure though. main goal obviously...still get all the nutrients, worm juice, and pesticides into the soil/on the plant and have a balanced ph still...so could use some good tips on that.
other than that i don't really have any concerns, shes doing great, i expect lots from her, going to be really chronic too, i won't grow unless its top quality.
But i am alowasy looking for tips
Things I'd like:
-to grow more quantity, and more quality
-supercrop, or tiedown the stems to expose more light? which one...and when, and def. some great videos on supercroping would be nice, i've never done it before, but seen some videos, not too many though unless i shouldn't even be doing it outdoors.
-top it? i don't want to... i hear topping makes more small buds, i want the big buds, and got the room to do it, its outdoors for christ sake... i want to take advantage of that 10,000 lumens/sq. ft. but who knows...
-i have heard of flushing your plants like the last week before harvest.. never done it though. i will be using that garlic spray.. i will apply it right when flowering starts, and it will last pretty much the whole time, if it needs it i will just use my sprayer to apply pressured water and that will do the trick to get me through. but some say you should cancel its nutrients the last week, they say it can steal the rest from the leaves. some say cut your nutrients down to like 10 or 20%. i have always just kept pumping 'em in! lol

i use all organic!!! why would i want to smoke something and get cancer!!! no thanks lol. so don't know why i would need to flush anything out. and all these funky ass hormones that are making girls grow tits at 6...i'm not trying to smoke or eat none of that either.
-when i havest some have said clip the whole plant off at its main stock, let it hang for some time and then clip off the shoots and let those finish drying. so im always looking for some good tips on that, but no worries, i'll look more into it when it comes time.
I cant' really think of anything else... i know it was a long post...wow super long. but it's fun talking about our babies! i hope you enjoyed the read, a lot of people tell me they're always excited to hear what new things im trying, i always grow real great stuff, so hope it helped some of you as well. but definitely like the feedback, and like i said, the more the merrier!
Til next time.
