then i would go with T8s, they don't put as many lumens out as a T5 but still doing the job great and you get em everywhere which isn't the case with T5s.
mounting these vertical is only an option if you want to add light to the sides of our baby. the thing is that plants sense the position of a light source and grow in its direction, so if you give them a direction by adding a few CFLs above the plants this could work then.

Okay, no problem. It is not too pricey to get T-8 flourescents and they are widely available. As far as spectrum of light, I will do some searching and add links to this later. I bought some blue and red spectrum tubes for the fixtures I found second hand. I use mine for veging and rooting clones. You can get your babies right up into the lights with out a problem. Look in my journal to see what I did. The link is the first one in my signature.

Home depot or lowes or any building supply will have them, even wallyworld. as well as second hand stores.

If you are on a stict budget then truely do your self a favor and look in your local phone book for salvage places that deal with the public. I have 8 sets, and only 2 sets are new. The rest are all second hand. You might still have to buy the tubes, but that is a small price to pay.

Green is a good one to listen to as well. He knows his stuff. One other thing about the adapters for PC fans: You can find them at Salvation Army, value village or goodwill for maybe 50 cents to a buck and usually they have a ton for really cheap. Just make sure that the adapter is the right size for your fan. On the fan there should be an ampage or volts. Make sure you get the same size adapter for the fan. Then just splice the wires together and gods your uncle!
