you can use both the lights if you like ???even if they are different color spectums,do you know what colors they are for example 2700k,or6500k or what???for a 6 site setup I would use both of those lghts or more, the more the better.how big is your spot ?rule of thumb is like 35 to 40 watts a square foot fro veg.then 50 or more watts a square foot for flwering cycle. Most will tell you 50 watts a square foot as minimum youcan go lower than that if you want??I veg my plants under a 4 foot t12 2 bulb fixture it is 80 watts total no way is that 50 watts a square foot ,and they do just fine.If you are using flourecents keep them as close to your plant tops as possible without burning them,I keep mine almost touching my plant tops. I flower under a250hps. you for sure want more light for flower so your buds get real dense and tight .anyway welcome to G P hope you learn a bunch and enjoy your stay with us???anyway you can lend a helping hand to anyone else please do so?its better to give than it is to recieve.

If you're using CFLs you could just buy them from the grocery store technically. Although there might be some that work better than others, your goal is lots of light at the right spectrum.
It really just depends on your setup.

Well, we have a big DIY section here so you can put together some homemade CFL upgrades if you are interested, or you can look at the other types of lighting solutions like HIDs. |

If you add cfl's try getting some in the 6500k range for vegging or 2400 to 2700k for flowering. These will work the best in the right spectrum for you.
Peace
