Hello!
I *think* I'm hanging this post in the right place.
My name is Liane, and I'm here to learn more about cultivating medical marijuana, which would make you ROFL if you saw me on the street. I look more like a stuck up stiletto mom than a stealth producer of cannabis caps for my severely, severely, severely autistic teen who has exhausted all "medical" options to alleviate his misery and life threatening agression and self abuse.
So we're trying this because doctors have given up on him, but he's still my son and I remember how happy he once was. I can't make the autism go away, but I want that contented happiness back for him.
Thanks to your forums, I made my first batch of cannabis caps last night. Couldn't help but giggle the entire time because my kitchen smelled like a frat house and it's hard to believe that our battle with autism has come to *this*. I won't even go through the nightmare we went through trying to find someone we could trust not to give us garbage for our son.
Soooo....a couple of hundred bucks later, and DH with his ass nearly kicked more than once (poor guy looks like a cop, what can I say LOL) our experiment has begun.
David's incessant screaming stopped within 70 minutes of his first cap. Right now, he's wandering aroud the house giggling. Wow. Haven't heard that in a LONG time. We were hoping he'd be able to sleep on this (he sleeps an average of three hours a night, but so far, he seems a bit on the energetic side. If happy is all we get, then that's ok, I'll take it.
At the same time, I'm horrified that the social service nazis are going to catch wind of what we're doing and bang our door down and steal our son, but I can't watch him suffer anymore. I'm afraid he's going to kill either himself or someone else. :( Gack, my house is full of holes in walls and broken doors, most of the damage done with his head. :(
So here I am, ready to learn and scared stiff at the same time. Everything there is good to say about me is because of having loved and advocated for my son and his disabled peers.
Thanks for being here, and providing such an extensive forum for truly green newbies like myself. I'll try not to ask too many stupid questions. ;)
Liane

Welcome to GP Liane! I am glad that mmj helps with your sons autism.. that is awesome.
My $0.02... I would try to find/grow two different types of mmj for your son. Sativa strains are more of an energetic, cerebral 'head' high, while Indica strains are a lot more of a body, physical type of high.
The Indica strains should help your son sleep better at night while the Sativas are more energetic (kind of the same difference between NyQuil and DayQuil)
From: Cannabis spp. (indica, sativa...) Cannabis indica
Cannabis indica probably originated in the areas around the Himalayas in Asia. It is now cultivated in most parts of the globe. When grown outdoors, an indica plant seldom exceeds 10 feet in height. However, indica is the most bushy of all species of cannabis.
The marijuana produced by indica plants is generally higher in CBD and lower in THC than sativa plants. This means marijuana from a pure Cannabis indica strain will produce a heavier, sleepy type of stone (when compared with marijuana from a Cannabis sativa plant).
The yield of Cannabis indica plants is usually higher than Cannabis sativa plants of a similar height. Cannabis indica plants take less time to mature than sativa plants.
Cannabis indica strains don't get as tall as Cannabis sativa strains but they are bushy and have to be grown further apart. A short Cannabis indica strain is ideal for growing in an area where height is a consideration (like when being grown indoors). Cannabis sativa
Cannabis sativa probably originated in Asia or Europe. It is now cultivated in most parts of the globe. When grown outdoors, some sativa strains can grow to a height of 20-25 feet.
Because of the great height of sativa plants, they are most often used to produce hemp plants for the fiber content. A tall strain provides hemp farmers with longer strands of fiber (that are worth more money) than a short plant would.
The marijuana produced by sativa plants is generally higher in THC and lower in CBD than indica plants. This means marijuana from a pure Cannabis sativa strain will produce a more clear headed, energetic type of high (when compared with marijuana from a Cannabis indica plant).
The yield of Cannabis sativa plants is usually lower than Cannabis indica plants of a similar height. Cannabis sativa plants take more time to mature than indica plants, and are best suited to growing outdoors.
There are strains of Cannabis sativa developed for growing indoors. If you decide on growing a sativa plant indoors, look for an average or high yield indoor strain (if quantity is important).
Because Cannabis sativa plants are not as bushy as Cannabis indica plants, you can grow them closer together (allowing more plants to grow in a given area).
An indica/sativa mix will yield a larger crop that is not as tall as a pure sativa, but THC level will be lower and CBD levels will be higher. Cannabinoids play an important part in the way you feel after consuming cannabis, THC is the primary (but not solitary) active chemical.
Here is another link too.. Different Strains of Marijuana; Indica and Sativa
...
Since you are not in one of the 13 friendly states, I would probably call your local norml chapter and see if they could give you any ideas or help with your situation too.
A retainer with a MMJ friendly attorney may also be a good idea -- Just in Case
...
The only "stupid" question is the one you dont ask.. Quote: |

Pappyy, I haven't used since I accidentally ate brownies in college--was a terrible, hallucinogenic experience. Before that I had done a few bong hits and enjoyed that a lot. But after I ate it, was terrified to ever try it again. So when I say green....I'm about as green as they come. ;) Thanks for the warm welcome!

welcome to GP Lianne, i'm sure we can help you learn to grow enough
to change your sons life for the better and in a very stealthy way.
keep in mind all the security issues already mentioned by SomeDude as
security is very important. for instance, it's probably not a good idea to
publicly post your real name.
anyhow, we're glad you found us and we will help you all we can.

I was wondering what area/state you are in. There may be a GP member in your area that may be able/willing to assist you too.

Welcome to Green Passion. I'm delighted you're here. It's great to hear from so many people about the oh so many ways cannabis helps people cope with their health issues.
You definitely found the right place.
I would encourage you to post or blog about your experience with MMJ. I'm sure there are many, many thousands of parents out there who could use your insight.
If you need some pointers, or need to get set up with a blog, just let me know. I'll be happy to assist you in any way possible.

Uhhhhh...back slowly away from the piccolo player jokes :D.
Seriously, y'all have a band? (Why do I have a feeling this is going to hit the list of the ten stupidest questions ever asked on this forum?)
Liane (needs to sign off and actually like, you know, write something before my editor gets all snippy with me.)
Thanks again, everyone. Quote:

Rep Power: 500 | | An Idea I just had...
Keep a very detailed (as much as possible) journal about your sons condition and document how mmj has helped your son.
Who knows, your journal & experience could help some other parent such as yourself.

Thanks again, everyone. | lol, you're new here so not used to how we roll, you see we're all aliens, like
that Baldwin character!
lol, man, i crack myself up!
anywho, what my friend Zigzagman was saying is that he and tokecrazy (another
fine member and gifted grower) are your neighbors so may be close enough
to help you in a more direct and personal way, once trust is established of course, lol.
btw, i already like your easy confidence and sense of humor, your son is lucky
to have you.
