Hello everybody,
I live on a tiny Island in the middle of the Irish Sea, attempting to bring heaven to earth, or at least the garden of Eden anyway, you have to start small.
I need some information on suppliment lighting to add to my 400w sodium light, can any one advise on the reptile lights please? ,many thanks Betty | | The Following 6 Users Say Thank You to Bettybud For This Useful Post: | |

My father's family came from Ireland. I love the Celtic culture from those parts. So, happy you decided to join us here. Lots of smart and helpful folks. Please enjoy your stay with us.

I buy reptile lights for my reptile... I believe they have more UV spectrum than grow lights do but I'm not sure how that would impact your grow. I use compact florescent lights to supplement my HPS and haven't had any issues so far.

Betty, you could add compact fluorescents to your 400W light. I do, and my clones are growing great in FF soil. I use 4 desk lamps with 3 or four fluorescent bulbs on each lamp using socket splitters from the hardware store. When the plants get taller, I'll move the fluorescents to the side and close to the plants. The desk lamps are a great way to move around lighting when you need to.

~Warm joyful wishes~
Looking forward to almost 10 days there. Gonna be doing lots of biking! Have family in the North too so a few days there. Be my first trip!
Welcome to the forum. I just joined recently. I am a grower, have not used the UV reptile lights myself but know a couple folks trying them.
I use T-5's in my veg room and I have 1000 watt lights in my flower room a mix of HPS and MH. They are awesome.
There are some lights now designed for Digital ballast 600 watts that are really looking good for the spectrums of lights especially!
Good luck on your grow.

Hi Betty! So nice to "meet:" you. We have many women now as members here. It is always nice to add a new sister to the list! We have a forum for women and we all love to chat and share info on our different lives. Quite a few of our members are from the UK. So nice to have another.
I have considered trying what you are talking about myself. I have read it will increase the potency of the buds. Not having tried it myself, I can't say, but if you do decide to give it a whirl, I will be watching and learning with you.
Peace

Hey there BB... a little Irish Island... sound cool... like brrrrr cool... but cool as well... I dont know what you have for access to lighting but I'd stay away from reptile light if you can .. not may lum. and alot of heat.. look into CFL.. the whole World going green .. a bulb at atime so you should be able to find them some where.. good luck on Eden...

Thank you both for your warm welcomes, jangel, I will be taking you up on the women's furum and its lovely to know I have many more sisters, I am looking forward to catching up with all you girlies.
Dankstarr, yes its doubley cool here, but the weather quite mild at the present, I am learning about the lights, I am sure I could pick them up in an electrical suppliers if I knew what I was looking for, failing that, its mail order, but at least now I have something to go on, todays lesson will be lumens and cfl's
