Default Don't tell me this town aint got no heart

Hello all, I just discovered GP today and I hafta say I really love the place..... I have been a soilless gardener for about 20 years starting at age 15 using an incandescent grow bulb and two 4 ft flourecsents in a 4 foot high crawl space located in the back part of the basement of my parents house. (little did my dad know that there were ten cannabis plants growing about 6 feet behind his workbench...)
anyway, I've grown up now and have since graduated to the real deal presently using 800 of mh and 400hps in my 24 and 2000 of hps and 400mh in my 12...
I've had very good luck in the last few years using pro mix, greensand, two guanos, and some worm castings. I always introduce predator mites once every couple months because I got sick and tired of fighting the battle (even with all precautions including changing clothes and shoes they still got me). this has worked well for me as I no longer deal with that headache anymore. I just make sure that I keep both air conditioners at 75-82 f and alternately water so that the humidity stays at or above 60%...... This has worked flawlessly for me; I have had no mold or mildew or anything to deal with. and my product has always been delicious UNTIL RECENTLY...
Lately I have had serious issues with leaves curling, changing colors, becoming necrotic, and then looking completely atrocious before completely dying and thus being able to be easily plucked off with no force. I have done many tests in the last 6 weeks which lead me to conclude It can't be nutes, it can't be the h20, it can't be the mix and I haven't seen any thrips or else I would say it was a virus they vector...
the silver haze and silver pearl are the most susceptible to this BS.....
I think I am just going to give up and quit for the summer because I work a full time job and then I come home and devote all the rest of my time to caring for cannabis- It's driving me crazy seeing my green passion turn yellow and brown.
I used to be a member of overgrow but I see that something happened there and It's no longer available so I did some searching around today and found several herb sites and
I felt at home on this one.

I really want to learn the hydro technique because I'm convinced that one can get better results using water instead of dirt since the grower has more control of everything however I am totally clueless so I guess I "just gotta poke around" here and see what I can learn.

World2give, welcome aboard, we always have room for another grower!
I'm sorry to hear bout your recent misfortune. If your growing for quantity, than go for the hydro, otherwise stick to being a dirtbag.

Sometimes, it is best just to clean house completely, and wash everything down with bleach and try again.

I hope to run into you in some of the threads here.
Peace

Welcome to GP,
You will find this a great place to share your experiences and possibly pick up on some new tidbits. The people here are quite knowledgeable and very helpful. btw, We have Overgrows FAQ's. I used to be a member there, too. Have you thought about a pH issue with your plant's problems?
Again, welcome. Enjoy!

Pappy

I got a few pics that I took a couple weeks ago when they looked dispicable (before I took the scissors to them aghhhhhhhh) and so anyway, I'm going to try and figure out how to post them over at the hospital and start a thread there.

as for the PH I tested the runoff and it seems alright at 6.6-7.1 (on the sick ones) nothing that should warrant what you are about to see...........

Greetings World!

GP is a great site, and while you have much to share as well, the folks here are really tops on both soil and hydro. I'm still a relatively new grower, and have grown now in soil and hydro...soil is less work in some ways, more in others (depending on what kinds of work you like, and what you don't). I enjoy the hydro grows, and the end results (for me) are better in hydro than soil , and a lot more fun along the way as they grow up.

Glad to have you here...and look forward to gleaning a few tidbits from the wisdom of your growing years..

ISO

Oh, but it is. It has been in most dictionaries for several years, and it drives me crazy. Also, "irregardless" is in, too. It seems that if something is used enough, even if incorrectly, the powers that be, decide that it is appropriate.

Actually, "ain't" is a contraction for "am not". If it is going to be used, it should, at least, be used correctly.
