Default It Ain't Hay! New Sufferer from Government Torment

As a medical marijuana patient in a non medical marijuana state, with my Senator (Tom Harkin D-IA):halloween1: subscribing to the theory that "The use of marijuana is as addictive and dangerous as heroin, cocaine and meth." Conviently leaving out alcohol and nicotine that also belong in the list of fiercely addictive and fatal drugs.:vampire: By the way, what is the medical value of nicotine/tobacco? I mean it's fatally addictive, serves of no medical value whatsoever yet it is legal and the easiest drug for kids to get. The U.S. Government has a secret agenda for keeping marijuana illegal and it is called MONEY!!! We all know the story. But I was appalled that Senator Tom Harkin, has forever and will forever, lump marijuana right in with heroin, cocaine, and meth. He paints a picture of a marijuana smoker whether medically or recreationally as someone huddled in a corner waiting to sell their children for just another hit of marijuana, get real Tom the government hasn't been able to make the people believe that BS for along time. It was all I could do to keep from falling off my chair with sad, disgusting laughter. So what do I do? Since I've been honest with my now adult son he knows that alcohol and cigarettes are the two true gateway drugs, if there is such a thing, and that marijuana has many theraputic values. Such as controlling the waves of nausea I surf every hour of every day. He has seen marijuana used medically and responsibly. He has experienced an alcoholic drunk as well as a marijuana high. He is smart enough to know that drug free is the way to be, but that marijuana is the safest form of mood altering drug known to man. The most dangerous thing about marijuana are the laws against it. He and his peers will make sure the anti marijuana laws get changed if they don't get changed by the time I die.:losthead: Anyway, my doctor has me on Marinol 5 mg since the real thing is to dangerous for me in the state of Iowa, but not in 12 other states. Why is that? I guess my body and reality are different in those states. This is my most important point: It is evil, cruel and sadistically insane:halloween: for a Government to deprieve it's people of a choice between a non fatal, non addictive recreational drug that is also incredibly medically theraputic while restricting them to only fiercely addictive and fatal drugs that spawn a myriad of other fatal diseases. Total legalization of marijuana is the smartest thing to do. It will cause the collapse of the marijuana black market and create a safer, healthier more gentle kind of government and nation. A government that is of the people, by the people and for the people. Hey that's a good idea. Do you think it will ever catch on? Peace....

First off..welcome to GreenPassion, a place

What I underlined there was, to me, the "meat" of the issue before America, and I'm not sure I've seen it stated better. How long willl America TOLERATE the Tom Harkin's...damnit, WE HIRE THESE PEOPLE!

I am fortunate to live in a MMJ state, however, in the long run with the way local LEO is forced to ignore state laws by the Fed's, we really don't have much protection at all. On paper...sure, but in reality??

Glad to have you with us...feel free to jump in and enjoy the site!

andto the site

I agree with ISO, I haven't heard it put any better, either.
You and I are neighbors. Minnesota is putting it to the test this spring. A medical legalization bill will be voted on here this spring. Most politicians believe the brainwashing that has been forced upon us, over the past 71 years. It's up to us to continue to fight for common sense.

You have found just about the best place to hang out. The people are great and the information is the best.

Enjoy.

Pappy

Hey Thanks Pappy! I appreciate your sincere invite and I agree that the knowledge and friendship are here. In fact I just moved into a house with my friend, who owns it, and he has an old grow room I want to get started again. But alas, I don't have the capitol for the equipment to do it right. Or the ability to pay high power costs, not to mention the prison term you get here in Iowa for growing it. Maybe I'll ask my recently high school graduate son if he wants to go to school at "Oaksterdam University" in Ca. then I could be legal. But the power of the opposite sex is stronger than the desire for weed. Just wait until he needs it for medical reasons. No just kidding, my son makes sure I rarely go without when I am tapped.:halloween3:. I look foward to future correspondance Pappy, take care and keep up the good fight. Evenutally Iowa will be surrounded by legal medical marijuana states, Minn., Mo., Ill., but not Nebraska they are as uninformed as Senator Tom Harkin (D-Ia.)...Peace...

Thanks tokecrazy for the compliments and the lighting info. I do believe I have finally found a site that is intelligent, friendly, safe and informative. Eventually the brainwashed politicians will die out and be replaced by foward thinking people and the laws prohibiting marijuana will be repealed. I look foward to this site for its friendly members and the opportunity to learn and discuss the positive aspects fom the God given cannabis plant. The most healing herb with the safest side effects of any drug known to mankind.

First of all welcome!

I try to post all news that I can find regarding marijuana and any news about it. So keep your eyes open and maybe there will be some news about your state.

Like Iso I am lucky also to live in a state that has medical marijuana as I to am a mm patient. But I find it absurd that everyone isn't able to grow. There should be NO restrictions for anyone on the amount of medicine that they can grow anywhere. But until then...

Thanks Mogie, I definetly will keep my eyes open. At age 54, I haven't got time to waste on bought off politicians like Sen Tom Harkin (D-Ia.). Hard evidence is proof positive for my health condition, doctor reccommended too. I have a step son who lives in Portland, Ore., and have toyed with the idea of moving there, I spent some time around Mt. Hood and I love the country and the mountains, then I have a sister who lives in Davis, California, by Sacramento but there is a newborn child in that house and they would not like it around legal or not. My sister subscribes to the social stigma i.e. it's still federally illegal so you can't use it. You know as I look back on over 35 years of smoking marijuana, with a 10 year break by my choice, I never once considered whether it was legal or illegal. If I wanted it I just got it. Now that I need it for chronic nausea control I am more interested in not getting busted. Therefore I am trying the political route. Use my vote, expose evil politicians like Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Ia.):vampire: who lumps marijuana in the same catagory as heroin, cocaine and meth. For at least the last 12 years he sends out, or rather has sent out, a "War On Drugs" form letter. He doesn't even read his constituients letters, they are catagorized and sent the appropriate form letter. So he supports the war on drugs and marijuana is a drug with no medical value in his mind. He was so sorry to say that marijuana related emergencies are as high as cocaine. I dared him to tell me where I could read this important info. His response, was no response. So this is what we need to do to him politically speaking that is. Get the point Harkin. Peace...

Welcome, i surely agree with your point - there is a huge problem with politicians and their connection to reality. But on the other hand has this war nourished an entirely new and huge industry of private run prisons and federal agencies that never been there before and surely not intended to be in the minds of the founding fathers.

you surely going to be a very interesting new member to chat with!

Yeah I must admit I'm fired up to fight the good fight politically, but fighting politicians is like and you can easily get frustrated and disallusioned. But that's part of their arsenal. Not to mention that, well just look at the record of congress. It took them over 100 years to admit that woman actually have the cognitive ability to make well informed political decisions thus deserving the right to vote. Then given the fact that our government first made cannabis illegal strictly as a racial move. The mexicans flooded the southwest after the 1910 Mexican Revolution bringing the practice of smoking marijuana with them, thank God, and the lily white homogenous country/congress wanted a tool they could use to deport them with. Voila, let's make having anything to do with marijuana illegal since it's only the mexicans who smoke it and look how dumb it has made them. Hey, not my words or feelings. This is the way the Continental Congress of the United States of America thought back in the '30's and do still to this day. Like that greedy @$$ Sen. Tom Harkin(D-Ia.) So we all need to pitch in and get the people re-educated about marijuana instead of believing the propaganda still being put out today since the infamous "Reefer Madness." Well, time for my bedtime dose, Freedom to all...
