Your job today is to change the world, and to do it in your own special way. Your job today is to move the world closer to the best it can be by pushing yourself toward the best you can be.

The world will be different at the end of the day because of the way you have lived. The world will change during this day because of the thoughts you have focused upon and the actions you have taken.

There is no one else who can do your job for you. There is no one else who can give to life the unique value that you're able to give.

It is an awesome responsibility and a magnificent opportunity. For the more you give of yourself, the more life will resemble the best vision you have for it.

That is your job today, to give the best of what you have and to truly make life better for the effort. Do that job well, and the rewards will be rich indeed.

ok heres my only thing with that statement...my idea an your idea of a better world will differ in many ways as to contradict each other...why cant it be to make "our" world better by making ourselfs the best we think we can be...let that be a kind person a killer or any other thing...why cant it be like that...why do poeople have to act the same why do some have to be lead rather than lead...peace 2

I believe it to be a philosophical proverb for life in general. Any practical application of directions on how to live the "perfect life" or for a "better world" can be seen as flawed as they are not supposed to be a a method but merely an idea or attitude to face the ever changing events of life.
