Default Questions For Oregon Med Growers

hi there everyone!

I'm contemplating a move out to oregon in roughly a years' time, and I intend to make full use of the state-given opportunity to grow my own medicine. I have doctors and nurses in my family, but since I'm about as smart as a bag of hammers, I cant really pursue a career in medicine.

that said, oregon has probably the best laws in the country regarding the ability to grow medicine for others, so maybe I can contribute to someone's treatment and recovery after all. I have a few questions about growing for others, though. I managed to read most of the actual legal statute stuff, but there are a few things I'm not clear on. this is all from memory - I cant find the super useful state by state law thread that I was reading yesterday on GP.

- the law states that a registered grower may recoup monies matching their utility expenses for each grow for a patient. say you're growing for 4 others, the max allowed by law - how do you fairly assess each patient's cost? does the state set forth a set rate which can be applied on a case by case basis?

- the law also states that the grower cant be paid for labor, etc. which is fine w/me, honestly - compassion and help shouldnt necessitate payment every time. but, are tips or gifts allowed? like, the patient you grow for is especially happy with a harvest, and wants to give you more money - where does the law stand on that? and, for clarity, I DO NOT mean "forced" or "implied" tips or gifts that could be construed as necessary for continued production.

- oregon law seems to indicate that there are no reciprocity agreements with other MM states. i.e., if I were pulled over and searched in california, I could be arrested/charged for possession even if I had a MM card from oregon and was in posession of a "legal" amount of cannabis as the law in california dictates. is this accurate?

- back to growing for others: do you all who grow for patients need to form not-for-profit organizations to have your utility reimbursement be "legit?" what's necessary to set up a NFP in oregon?

I know that's a lot to ask, and I'd be quite thankful to just be pointed in the direction of available info on these topics - I dont expect you to answer every question in detail if you dont want.

thanks!

you take the harvest divide by the cost and there you go...
that being said there are no set rules.
we always reccommend a contract between p.r.m.g.(grower) and patient.
some gardens have one who foots most if not all of the expenses and the rest do what they can.

the only state with reciprocity is good ol montana.
there is no legal amount across state lines.;-)

Yes the law here allows you to recoup your costs via your patients. I do it a little different. I don't like money changing hands. I patient buys the Fox Farm forest and ocean soil. And the other buys the Fox Farm nutes and SM 90. Works out to about $300 each.

No more then 4 patients per grower or address.

If you had 4 patients you could have 24 plants.

PM me if you have specific questions.

that's close...

you may only have 6 "mature" plants per patient registered at growsite.
you may also have 18 "immautre" plants.

mature plants are over 12" in any direction or in flower.

with 4 registered patients you may have 96 plants as long as they stay in compliance size wise.

the legislators along with dan harmon et al have backed off of the only 1 grower per address for now.

look out for them to come out swingin next year after gettin their butts handed to them this year though.
