Rep Power: 500 | | Non-psychotropic plant cannabinoids: new therapeutic opportunities Non-psychotropic plant cannabinoids: new therapeutic opportunities
Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol binds cannabinoid (CB1 and CB2) receptors, which are activated by endogenous compounds (endocannabinoids) and are involved in a wide range of physiopathological processes (e.g. modulation of neurotransmitter release, regulation of pain perception, and of cardiovascular, gastrointestinal and liver functions). The well-known psychotropic effects of Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol, which are mediated by activation of brain CB1 receptors, have greatly limited its clinical use. However, the plant Cannabis contains many cannabinoids with weak or no psychoactivity that, therapeutically, might be more promising than Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol. Here, we provide an overview of the recent pharmacological advances, novel mechanisms of action, and potential therapeutic applications of such non-psychotropic plant-derived cannabinoids. Special emphasis is given to cannabidiol, the possible applications of which have recently emerged in inflammation, diabetes, cancer, affective and neurodegenerative diseases, and to Δ9-tetrahydrocannabivarin, a novel CB1 antagonist which exerts potentially useful actions in the treatment of epilepsy and obesity.

For any HIV/AIDS patients, notice the immunosuppressive action of CBD. It lowers T-cells!!! That's not good.

its like peanut butter says here.......
We've only just begun .. The tip of the iceberg has just started to show itself.
Just for starts, over 80 cannabinoids that have been discovered so far. Several of them only in the last couple of years.
Synergy has it's own rewards for cannabinoids.
These compounds haven't even begun to be mapped out for their effects. Just a few of them have had some in depth study.
Synergy between THC and CBD is now being shown by GW to the FDA.
If you only looked at it as 1/0, there or not, there are thousands of combinations of these compounds. Thousands of synergistic sets of effects to be tested and tried.
Then when you look at the combination ratios, not just yes/no but what percentage of each, this plant has the ability to provide a unique medicine for every person on the face of the earth.
We've only just begun ..
its all about synergy like PB says i think, different levels of all the different cannabinoids having a different effect for different people with different diseases!!.....amazing really!!
