I've been having to take a Thyroid substitute for many years, as my Thyroid gland was not doing anything...that is until I started using MMJ back in 2007. It woke up..
Over the course of the following 2 years, up until Feb. of this year my PCP had to gradually reduce the amount of Thyroid med I was taking, as the gland started to function much better. He was miffed..as he said it is very rare for a thyroid gland to reverse itself and start functioning again.
Now, I was up-front with this MD, and told him I thought it was the MMJ that made the difference. He didn't agree, or disagree. (he wasn't anti-MMJ, and in fact he signed my first recommendation)
Well, in Feb. of this year, after my surgery I stopped using MMJ. Now, 6 mos. later (w/o any MJ) I had a full blood panel done, and none to my surprise at all, the thyroid gland had dropped way off in it's function, and today my PCP had to increase the med's in order to keep it at the right level.
I just KNEW that the MMJ was making it work right again, and this last blood test was verifiable proof!
Here's the kicker though....I am getting my Med. Recommendation updated this coming Sat., so will once again be a legal MMJ user..
This is a new doc (my PCP) and I would bet $10 to anyone that in 6 mos. she'll be lowering that med again...wondering how the hell my Thyroid gland started functioning again. (I'll know why, but I ain't telling her!

)
Granted, it's no cure, but in the 2+ years I used MMJ there was a gradual, verifiable improvement in the performance of the gland..and if I had stayed on MMJ the time would eventually come when I might be able to stop taking the synthetic hormone all together.
