Rep Power: 341 | | medical patients are limited by # of plants
Since we are limited by the number of plants that we can legally have in our possesion then it only makes sense that we work on increasing the amount or size of plant.
To do this spread out the plant when young like you are going to do tie it down but after a week undo the ties and let it start growing up. This will give you a plant that is more open. There will be a lot more space inbetween the stems.
I started mine indoors in early March and put them out at the beginning of April. They were ATF so they can handle cold snaps. They were confused by the light so they started to flower. But the light increased and they went back into veg.
Now each branch is holding what will be it's own plant.

Hey Mogie great looking plant makes me jealous haha.
It only makes sense since the law restricts the amount of plants you can have. Keep up the good work man and keep us posted on the yield

So do most of you thin the outdoor plants? I need to get mine thinned really soon. I usually go down the bottoms and take out everything that looks like it won't get enough light. I then use these for cloning.
Last year I got very few "popcorn" buds that I didn't want to trim. The first couple of years I hated to trim ANYTHING but the last few I have trimmed to make the buds that do grow bigger and have really liked the results.
Mogie do you thin yours? Your plants look about like mine it is hard to tell cause there isn't anything to compare the overall size to. What size pots do you plant in? I use 1/2 whiskey barrels because they are just my preference. I grew up the daughter of a farmer and have had gardening experience all my life, for nutrients I am always experimenting. I have a bunch of nutrients from someone who abandoned them and have been trying new things this year.
I will try to get some pictures of my grow soon I ended up with 8 (out of the 12 legally) that were planted when they should have been but was short 4 plants and they got out so late I don't know how well they will do but it is better than not getting them out. My husband is also medical.
Oh...and I will get an intro out soon too |

No i don't thin mine. Pot sizes 5 - 7 gallons I think. Could be a little bigger.

I note that in California, the limit is 6 mature or 12 immature plants. I am not sure how they define mature yet (with buds?).

Check your county regulations... some counties in CA are VERY liberal in their allowable counts/weights per patient.
Mature would be "in flower" or flowering/w/buds.
immature is Veg growth stage

Thanks BTDT. I have suffered from chronic back pain for several years due to two ruptured and degenerated discs. In the past I had not understood fully that weed might help this pain and I have used umpteen painkillers, instead. I use them on occasion, not as a habit, but I really don't like to do so due to liver damage potential - and possible addiction, to which I have admittedly come close to on a couple of occasions.
Too, I always figured that the programs were only for AIDS, cancer, glaucoma patients, etc. etc. I would not wanted to have disrespected or endangered the ability of these folks to get what they need so I never really pursued the program. But, due to this site and reading about MM, I am thinking of trying to find a doctor (I live in Santa Clara Co.) who is open to giving this a try. I know it sounds convenient as an excuse to legally get high, but if the stuff could also provide relief to me for this damn back, I'd be downright giddy with gratitude.
Anyway, thanks to those of you who have posted on this topic.

That's what is all about. Getting off the chemicals and relying on mother natures medicine. It should be covered and it should also make a world of difference for your back. Good luck.

75% of the patients in my state are on the registry for "chronic Pain". I'm in that fun group myself...wooo hoooo!
I spent too many years on the pills. I love em...gotta be honest...but I KNEW they were killing me. Head says "Yeah man...EAT THOSE FUCKERS UP,. THEY'RE GOOD FOR YA!"....Body says "WTF are you DOING TO ME?"
Pot is good meds. It won't kill the pain like the narcos do...but it takes your mind off it and allows you to focus on other things.
And...with being "legal"...it's all out in the open in my home. Got plants on the back deck...and that new room in the garage. The kids (boys, almost 15 & 18) support it and would rather I medicate with pot than take the pills and enter the "Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde" Family FUN Ride. It's AWESOME being out in the open after hiding my grow for over 15 years!
Now I just gotta teach em how to TRIM! LOL.

hey btdt great story thnx for sharing. I too just got my reccomendation and medical card. From both my doctors. I have two boys and they have always known I smoke but now it is in the open and they know I grow. I taught my oldest about osmosis first hand and photosynthisis, and cloning. It is realy cool to relate the scientific side of it all to him and not feel ashamed because it is "illegal" thnx for sharing~
