Marijuana May Have Another Medical Use

Swiss researchers have found a compound in marijuana that may be a new, potent anti-inflammatory. The cannabinoid, known as beta-caryophyllene, or (E)-BCP does not affect the brain like delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC.

(E)-BCP is already part of many people's daily diets, it is also found in high concentrations in black pepper, oregano, basil, lime, cinnamon, carrots, and celery. (E)-BCP affects cannabinoid receptors outside of the brain called CB2 receptors.

"Our interest is to exploit the pharmacological nature of the CB2 receptor, because it does not have psychotropic side effects," explained author Jurg Gertsch of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.

something tells me that smoking black pepper nor oregano will be not too helpful - but some tomatoes with some black pepper, oregano and basil this could make a nice topping for a pizza
