Can a doctor legally refuse medicines to a patient?
I know Fibromyagia and Chronic Pain Syndrome are not life threatening conditions.
I recently have been in contact with pharmaceutical companies that provide people like me with free medications but your doctor has to sign the application.
My doctors office is refusing to refill my meds cause they say I refuse to go to a pain clinic, I am not refusing I can't afford the $180 consultation fee at which they do not do anything on a first visit.
This is downright nuts!!

iriseyes,
I assume you told your doctor, you can not afford the fee? That's a tough situation your in. See if the pain clinic will work with your primary care doctor, i am sure it will take a few phone calls but, I know what works, if you keep calling and calling the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Good Luck, and its not right.

Well it just keeps getting worse each doctor I see. Hell I thought my other doctor and the rheumatologist I was going to were a joke.
I would love to go to another doctor but I dont have the funds for that. Im in the appeals process with disability and pending medicaid application. I don't have insurance so I can't get to a doctor - I have called all over the place trying to get one. All want the money up front for the new patient fees. I am even getting crap from Walmart Pharmacy. They thought I was taking to much tramadol so go with the doctor and Yanked them from 2 every 4 hours to 2 twice daily. I go in for pain and they cut meds.
I am wandering if this stems from a visit to the ER when I got drug tested and failed for cannaboids and opiates. For the love of Pete if they would treat me and make my life better I wouldn't have to feel like some sort of slime ball scouring the streets for pain relief. I got a letter from my disability lawyer saying to basically stop using illegal substances or I would likly be denied my disability claim.
I have never seen somone be treated as I have from many medical professionals. | | The Following 3 Users Say Thank You to iriseyes For This Useful Post: | |

GSR | Oh ya I told him and then told them also that I had a chance to get free medications and needed his signature. They don't care and now wont even let me talk to the doctors nurse any longer. I do have some politicians involved with this as well. I told them the Pain clinic told me to tell them they needed to keep the medications going until I was able to be seen. They seemed compassionate enough.
Since now I am out of my gabapentin Im starting to feel some really funky (electronic) feelings. I call them electronic cause it almost feels like a mild electrical shock.
We have a free clinic here but was told by them that "they were not equipt to deal with me" We have a charity program at a local clinic but the problem is you have to have a bill there to qualify and they don't let you charge they told me not to come or call back till I had insurance or money! I am now labled as a drug abusing doctor hopper!! Fun Fun

IMHO........ Time to move.. That is wrong in so many different ways.
I have had to threaten several doctors with large lawsuits before they would get off their a55 and actually do what they are supposed to do.

I just moved because of this kind of crap problem was my boss at the time was drinking buddies with most of my doctors there. Boy that ended up being something else. I suppose I would have a lawsuit if I had proof, hearsay My boss and car lot(buying car) and some members of the medical community that I was fired and one of the biggest fakers on the planet. There was more being said as well. I have written documentation of my leave of absence then ending with my resignation.
Oh man you can not imagine what I have been threw with the cysts growing in my right wrist.
So if I smoke I could loose my claim, if I don't smoke I can loose my mind cause of the pain.
Do all sufferers of Fibromyagia or chronic pain syndrome get treated like this?

Irish hang in there I know what it's like to have so much pain you are at the edge. But at the same time the stress with the Fibro is not good for you either and can cause more pain. Is there anyone you can get to call on your behalf perhaps a friend or relative. Sometimes this removes you from the equation and another can come in and start fresh no past to deal with you know what I mean? When I get upset my wife jumps in and cools things off for both of us. I hope that helps take care and keep strong.

Boy Im trying to hang on. Ya, Im stressed and I know it isn't good. I told them that they could talk to any of my family and it would be all it would take. I have even threatened to move out of state. There are 13 states that come to mind, LOL.
my next step is to call all of my doctors and request all medical records so I can see what they are saying on paper. I have had to many tell me something then write something else.

iriseyes...If your doctor disclosed ANY information regarding your health/treatment to anyone without your consent he has violated the Health Information Privacy Protection Act of 1996 which is federal law. For Consumers
I used to work for a network of ambulatory surgery centers here in california...I have seen doctors terminated/forced to resign for non complaince with the hippa guidelines.
I hope you can find a doctor that is more concerned with your well being.

I am so sorry you are being treated this way.. I kind of know what your going threw and I am sure there is many who do.. I was wonder, You said you are trying to go thru the motions to get disability, When doing that aren't you alowed for medical help covered by the state you live in, this is just until you do or don't get the disability

They let me have food stamps and that is it.
If I had 15 kids I would be set probably 1000 a month on food stamps and medicaid with the works. Pays to be lazy and pop out kids but it don't if you have worked and end up disabled to the point you have to resign or be fired.

Pays to be lazy and pop out kids but it don't if you have worked and end up disabled to the point you have to resign or be fired. | For many years I worked day after day in pain and for the most part while dealing with severe depression. The thing that angered me is I who worked in the medical field couldn't get medical help, I wasn't making enough money to have insurance yet made too much to get medical care thru the gov. You work hard your whole life, pay taxes, with little appreciation. If I had been able to see a doctor all those years, I might of been able to take care of my health issues, instead of it getting to the point that I had to get done working because my health continued to get worse and was forced to go on disability. It hurts your pride to be in this position and to also be treated this way,, I don't care who it is, or what your financial situation is, as a human, as an American, everyone should be entidled to recieve health care, poor, middle class or rich.

Okay, now I got my lawyer for disability on my rear end.
I need to talk with anyone on this board who has been diagnosed with these Fibromyagia, Chronic Pain Syndrome and are on US Disability and or SSI threw US Social Security. My lawyer said that Social Security does not think that Medical Cannabis is recognized as treatment for FMS or CPS. If I need to post this somewhere else please do tell me. I am in serous need of help and or advice cause I think Im about to get screwed royally.
If you would rather talk privately I understand PM me or email me at iriseyes1@gmail.com and it will stay private. Im just getting really scared now and without my meds Im really getting stressed out.
Thanks
